This month I have decided to create a 12x12 layout of my beautiful granddaughter. She is a happy child! I chose to use the Wild Rose paper collections as well as the Wild Rose stamps and dies for this layout. I did mix in some Leafy Accents as well as a few stamped Sweet Magnolia buds. They were perfect as fillers. I prepared the background paper with some texture paste and a stencil, then brushed it all with clear gesso. This prepared my "canvas" for inks and sprays.

Here is a closeup of the flowers and leaves. I used watercolor paper, and water colors for the flowers and leaves. The thicker paper is perfect to hold the shape as well as blending the watercolors on the flowers and leaves. I used Prills for the middles. I dusted the flowers and leaves with Rajni Chawlas Dusting Powder. I love the shimmer and shine.

For the frame, I used the Decorative Circle Frames Die. There are so many possibilities of layering the frames. I stacked 3 layers, using corrugated cardboard in-between each layer for dimension. For the lacey part of the frame, I kissed it with texture paste, and used a watered down watercolor to give it some color. I also added some of the same color around the frame and on the stenciled areas of the layout. When the layout was finished, I did some splattering of 3 different inks on the page. I also touched it with Nuvo Crystal Drops in white.

Here is another closeup of the floral cluster. For the leaves, I inked them in green, colored them in a washed out green, and just used the same color from the flowers, onto the leaves to compliment the flowers. The 2 toned color gives the leaves some dimension.

Here are the simple rules!!

The hop begins at 8AM EDT on Friday, July 30th, 2021 and runs until 11:55PM EDT on Monday, August 2nd, 2021. The winner will be announced on the Heartfelt Creations blog and Facebook page on Wednesday, August 4th, 2021.

  5. As pretty as this entire page is, it's the beautiful leaves that I am looking at more closely. I never would have thought to add purple to the leaves...I'll definitely be trying this color coordinated technique. That hint of color on the leaves does make a nice difference...thanks!
