Heartfelt Creations Wednesday 6-28-11

I can't believe it's Wednesday already..In a more days it will be July!! Wow, how the summer days are already going by fast . In this 95+ degree heat here on the Gulf Coast, I won't mind if it goes by a little faster.
This week, I pulled out my Posy Patch Collection of stamps and used stamps I hadn't used before. I also mixed the leaves from a couple of collections. There is quite the collection of leaves now, and I love them all. The Design team has done it again. Created wonderful projects with the stamps and beautiful papers that Linda and Emma Lou sent us. Go check out the Heartfelt Creations Blog. Then hop to each designers blog. You will surely be inspired.

I cut out the scroll stamp, stamped a sentiment on it, and after it was painted with Glimmer Mist, I tucked it behind the butterfly wing through a slit in the paper. .

Just a closeup of the layered stamps. Instructions on the anatomy of the layout follow the picture.

Mat the photo with strips of decorative edge punch and place in middle of circle. On white card stock stamp the Posy Patch Cluster Stamp twice and cut out. Stamp and die cut the Posy Patch Flowers that match the size of the cluster flowers. Spray the flowers with Glimmer Mist, and paint them on the cluster stamped flowers. Paint the leaves as well. Cut a 4 x 8 piece of pink card stock and punched both long sides with garden gate punch and adhered to left side of patterned paper. The flowers were created using the Perfect petals Lily stamp. When the flowers are complete, place a pearl in the center of each flower. The leaves were sprayed with green glimmer Mist in 2 colors and the accent color was painted on with pink Glimmer Mist, using the same color the flowers were sprayed with. arrange the flowers and leaves onto the punched strip of card stock. A Timmy Tag, Swirlydoos Style

Last month I was fortunate to take a class with Tim Holtz. The class was called Creative Outlets. Well, Tim allowed us to teach the class if we wanted and even gave us an outline to follow. SO I decided to get 13 kits together and take them to Swirlydoos Camp, where I taught the "Dressed To Distress Tag"...Only the twist was to do it in Swirlydoos style!! What fun it was to see everyone creating the most beautiful tags!! And although we all used the same kit, everyone of the tags were so different and GORGEOUS!!! This was my tag. And you must go see what my other wonderful Camp Swirly Girls did...I sent a pic of all of them to Tim, and he responded with a wonderful email and very kind words!! Thanks Girls!! And thank you Tim for allowing me creative license with your tags!!
I chose this for Simons Says Stamp and Show

Lily Flower Tutorial featuring Heartfelt Creations stamps

The lily's pictured above were made with the McGill Lily punch..But for those of you who do not have the punch, I created the tutorial using my Heartfelt Creations Lily Petals PreCut Set from the Perfect Petals Collection.
Lily Petals PreCut Set

Product List
McGill Lily Punch
McGill Starburst punch
McGill Crystal Punch
McGill's Paper Blossom Tool Kit
McGill CRAFT MOLDING MAT (not shown) a mouse pad will work as well if needed
Black Zig pen
heat tool
Glimmer Mist or color sprays
White Puffy Paint
Adhesive of your choice
Craft mat

If you are using the McGill Punch for the Lily, punch 6 petals of the size you want. In this tutorial , I will use Heartfelt Creations Stamps to show you a different way to achieve the same results. You could also cut your petals freehand as it is a simple shape. Stamp images of leaves. You will need 6 petals per flower.

After your petals are punched or diecut, Spray them with your favorite color mist using a lighter color and paint on a darker color at the base. Air dry, or use a heat gun to dry. If you are using the McGill punch, then you have to add the little dots onto your petals for a more realistic Lily. I just Googled Lily images for design placement and color.

Using a stylus, and circular motions, emboss until your petals curl slightly as shown in the picture.

Holding your petal between tweezers, fold up the petal and pinch the ends together.

Using your tweezers, Grip the sides of the petal and curl each side of the petals back.

Shape the petals by hand and start gluing the petals onto the base. Here I used the crystal punch as the base. But if you have a snowflake punch, you could use that as a base as well.

Glue all 6 petals onto the base to form your Lily.

Outline the flower petals with Puffy Paint. The thicker you put it on, the puffier it will be. For best results, let the paint air dry before you use your heat gun on it to to make the paint puff. Glue your stamen onto the middle of the flower. You can do this after the paint is puffed.

Here is the result of the finished flower after letting the paint dry for 30 minutes before puffing the paint with my heat gun. Be very careful not to burn the paint. Keep your gun moving and dont get to close.

Passing The Swirly Crown!!!

Hi everyone!!
I have received a few emails from many of you I just wanted to clarify your questions...

Well, these last few months have been a little rough, I didn't realize how much of a responsibility it was going to be settle my mother in laws estate. And then bring my father in law in to live with us. I try to spend time with him as much as I can, and that certainly has taken away from "me" time. Of course my "me" time is the time I spend in my scrap haven working on all kinds of stuff. I didn't realize that life would change so drastically for me. It would help if the rest of the family were active in my father in laws care and life, but they aren't. Steve and I seem to be the caretakers now, and find it very unfair to have to do it alone. When I am home, I keep my FIL company all day, feeling guilty if I lock my self away for a while. But really, that is not the problem, I can fix that. So between work, and caring for my father in law, I realize that my scrap life has been affected. I cannot believe that over 4 months have gone by in the blink of an eye. I really do lose track of time these days. and I realize that by all of these changes in my life, that it is affecting my role with Swirlydoos. And I apologize for that because I really need to have my finger on the pulse, so that Krissy and the Design Team can do their part with out worry or difficulty. Swirlydoos is a business and needs frontline people to stay on task to make it successful. I fear that with everything going on right now, I wouldnt be able to accomplish what the Team REALLY needs. I gave the DT coordinator position a shot (I thank Krissy for the chance!!) and have come to realize that I am unable to meet the needs of Swirlydoos in that position at this time. If I didn't have to work in my professional job, I would take the role and FLY with it!! But unfortunately, I don't have that luxury any more. Those were the best times. So I regretfully will take a step down from the DT Coordinator position, and just stay on the DT as I did before. I love SD's...I love Krissy!!...I love the girls!! I will continue to give it my all!!...I just cant coordinate it any more. I am definitely not burned out from scrapping, I am getting burnt out at work. And sad that it is affecting my fun time and I dont want my fun time to be compromised. Scrapping and creating is what I love to do.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO......I have passed the DT Coordinator Crown to Lisa Valentine!!! That girl will rock the DT Coordinator role inside out and side to side!!! She has proven time after time that this role was made for her!! I will help Lisa any way I can and continue to give my all to Swirlydoos. After all, we are the best team in the Kit Club world!! (IMHO)
I would like to take this time to welcome Paulien and Maiko to the team..These girls are Crazy Mad Talented. And Congrats to Maiko for making the Prima Design Team. That is awesome!!!

So, I hope that clarifies my decision in my role at Swirlydoos. I am not going anywhere, just taking a back seat and enjoying the journey as I did before. I dont know what made some of you think I was leaving..Are you Crazy???!!! Swirlydoos is my second home!!! I love those girls!! I will just have more time to do other things that I didn't have time to do before. And my family is grateful for that.
Love and Hugs,

The Color Room #62 and Swirlydoos Grandmas Garden

Time to play at The Color Room once again!! I just love these colors!! I already did one, but had stash left from my Swirlydoos Grandmas Garden kit from last month. The photo is my dear Swirly sister Jan..One of the photo's I took of her during our photoshoot at Camp a few weeks ago. We had a lot of fun during girlie time up in the mountains. And we created a lot of beautiful art there as well!

I finally used my Dusty Attic Chicken Wire, thanks Jen(abler) but was hoarding it until now. I colored with white acrylic paint and touched it in a few places with Stickles in paprika.

While in Colorado, Krissy took Robin and I to Archivers and I found the punch I had been looking for to create the McGill Lily's. Love it!! I will be posting a tutorial for them later today. I will also be using my Heartfelt Creations Stamps and die to create the same flower. So you will have 2 different options to recreate the Lily. I will also direct you to Paulien's (our newest DT member at Swirlydoos) tutorial for a Lily as well. Hers are so beautiful and made from baby wipes!! Wow...Go green!! So many ways to achieve beautiful results. Thanks for stopping by today!!

Heartfelt Creations Wednesday 6-15-11

I had wanted to work with these Kaisercraft English Rose papers for so long. And Linda and Emma Lou don't disappoint!! The collections they put together for the DesignTeam is awesome!! The pics were taken with my camera by my Swirly sister Jen(abler) at Swirlydoos Camp a couple of weeks ago. It was a blast. I love the stamps in the Wedding Collection. So many buds and roses and romantic images. And the new Bella Roses leaves with swirls stamp is a new fave of mine. You all know how much I love my flowers and leaves. You must check out what the DT has created this week. Loveliness...As always.

I will be posting a tutorial for the flowers by the end of the week.
Just a closeups of these pink beauties. A little twist and play on the stamps..Stay tuned.

I cut the title with my Cricut Expression.I really need to start using it more!!

Edge punched on both sides of a 4 inch piece of coordinating patterned paper and adhered it across the middle of the background paper. Then cut 2 circles from green cardstock and using the corner punch, I punched around the circle so they resembled doilies. Placed them on the 12 x 12 piece of paper. Matted the photos in coordinating card stock and adhered to paper. Stamped the rosebuds stamp in opposite corners and painted with Glimmer Mist. Then stamped them on card stock and painted them the same way and cut out the buds. Stamp and die cut the leaves then spray with glimmer Mist and go over the edges with Chalk ink in a coordinating color. Die cut the medium and small flowers from the Tattered Florals die and stamp on top with the Grande Flora stamps. Using the paper Blossoms Tool kit, I dry embossed each flower layer and layers a few flowers together to form a multi layered flower. The title was cut using the Cricut Expression and adhered to the LO. The flowers, stamped buds and leaves were assembled around the LO and a few Butterflies were adhered randomly on the background as well.

Swirlydoos Presents The Looking Glass...

I'm a little late announcing, because I was in the gorgeous Mountains of Baily Colorado...At Swirlydoos Camp!! But here is the June Kit..The Looking Glass...
You wanted it, you've got it! Our June collection, 'The Looking Glass', is the perfect collection of papers and embellishments to showcase your more masculine photos. This versatile collection has the perfect blending of paper and embellishments that were hand selected to honor the Grandfathers, Fathers, and precious sons who’ve touched our lives, and made us all who we are today. We invite you to take time this month to create a project in honor of these special men in your lives. We have also assembled a fine collection of add-on kits that compliment our main kit beautifully. We sincerely hope that you will enjoy the inspirational collection that we have thoughtfully prepared for you this month.

The papers in the kit were perfect for masculine layouts. I cant help but put flowers on it anyway..I cant do layouts without them. This is my husband. My one and only...
I just loved the tattered Angels Framed Fonts Chipboard set. I took it apart and attached a Timmy trinket.
I created the flowers using the Alterations Tattered florals die and card stock from the coordinating add on kit. Inked them up a bit for a grungy look. And my new Heartfelt Creations Linkleaf stamp and die. I colored them with glimmer Mist in Key lime Twist and Olive Vine.
More closeups of the flowers. I placed the small roses in the kit in the middle of the yellow flowers.
This next layout is of my father in law when he was 19 years old. He told me a professional photographer did his portraits. I outlined the layout with the stamps in the kit. Did some sewing and water distressing around the striped paper.

I used my new McGill punch to create the flower and colored it with Glimmer Mist in Waterslide, then inked it up a bit.
I used the Heartfelt Creations leaf stamp and colored it with Moon Shadow mist in Incandescent Copper, then painted on some GM in Waterslide for accent color. The Glimmer Glass chippies were backed with cardstock and placed randomly around the layout.
Once again I used the Tattered Angels Chip board Fonts and placed my father in laws initial on the inside.

This next layout of my daughter was a challenge with all of the blue paper. I used plain Card Stock from the add on kit to create the background paper. I dabbed Adirondak acrylic paint in Snow cap along the edge of the card stock to mimic the patterned paper.

The smaller roses are in the kit, the larger ones are in the add on flower kit. When I was at camp, Kim lent me her Spellbinders die for the 12 inch vine. I used Glimmer Mist in Olive Vine to color it and accented with soft chalk ink in Chestnut Roan.

I misted some white Petaloo Flowers in Glimmer Mist Rum Punch and a very light spray of Pinecone over it. The leaves are Heartfelt Creations Stamp and misted in Olive Vine and inked in Colorbox Chestnut Roan.
I cut a slit in the layout, used my Cropadile to set the eyelets and laced seam binding that I colored with Glimmer Mist in Rum Punch and a tiny amount of Pinecone, and laced it corset style, then tied a bow on the end. I folded and tacked the tails with my ATG Gun to give it a flowing look. The title was cut with my Cricut Expression.
This layout of my son and daughter in law was also completed at camp. I used a Prima Mask and soft brown ink to enhance the paper in all 4 corners. I borrowed LisaN's corner punch to do the circle.
I used the Alterations tattered Florals die to create the flowers. The middles were done with my McGill Sun punch using multiple layers.
The title was cut using my Cricut Expression, then Glimmer Misted and inked.
The leaves are Heartfelt Creations and colored as in previous layouts. The butterflies are from a file I created for one of our Swirlydoos kits. They were scanned from a Websters Pages paper, then sized and changed the shape of some using Photoshop.
I used Peggy's Alterations Clock die for the photo frame. I used Moonshadow Mist in Glory Of The Sea Gold, then went over it with Crackle Accents for a very cool effect.
Another closeup of the flowers and leaves.
Glimmer Mist in Rum Punch is one of my go to colors.
This next layout was done with the kit, but created for the Heartfelt Creations Reveal last week. I don't know what happened to my post. It never posted and I had it on Auto post. I just realized it wasn't posted!! I created the background paper using the Heartfelt Creations leaf die cut, and used the diecut as a mask around the paper using Glimmer Mist. Then I used Distress Ink in Shabby Shutters to sponge the color on the leaves,
I cut out the Alterations Bird Cage and added a butterfly from a file I created from the Pink Paislee Butterfly collection papers.

I laced some of the beautiful May Arts Ribbon through the paper. And created the flowers from Heartfelt Creations stamps. I die cut the leaves using thin chip board and misted them with Glimmer Mist.

Products Used on This Project

HCPC 3303 Posy Patch Flowers PreCut Set
HCD 712 Bella Rose Die
Innoscents flowers HCPC 2242
459222 Paper Blossoms Tool Kit

Other: Glimmer Mist Alterations die border punch May Arts ribbonArchivers InkRanger Distress Ink Ink blender foam applicator Prima Vine Crafters Workshop Template

Created the background paper by using a Bella Rose leaf die cut and using it as a mask around a 12 x 12 piece of cream card stock and spraying with Glimmer Mist. (save the leaf diecut for your flower arrangment.) Then using an ink blender foam applicator, softly ink inside the outline of the leaves in green. Using a script paper, border punch one side and using a scallop template trace and cut the other side. Ink distress the edges. Weave a piece of ribbon through it and adhere to background paper. Place matted photo above the paper strip slightly offset to the side. Die cut, cut out and ink the innoscents flowers, distress slightly and layer for dimension. The tutorial for the yellow flower using the Posy Patch stamp can be found HERE. The Glimmer Misted cage die cut, the vine, flowers and leaves were then arranged around the page. and a few printed butterflies were randomly scattered throughout the layout.
This next layout was NOT done with the kit. Instead, Krissy graced us with a wonderful pack of Graphic 45 papers at camp. Gosh they are beautiful. Botanicals is the line. This layout is my daughter who left for college almost 1 year ago. Her faith has gotten her through all of the rough spots of college life, thus the title. Living on the other side of the United States, on her own, working full time as a Security Officer for TSA and UPS at the airport (yup, she got certified as a security officer in Oregon!! She amazes me...), and attending Le Cordon Blu College of Culinary Arts full time, you have to be living on a prayer..Then to make the Honor Roll...Well, we are very proud!!! And she is very busy!! lol...
I used a Prima mask for the background paper design, then cut out the rounded parts and tucked the G 45 paper underneath the cuts. I placed some half pearls randomly on the design.
I created the tiny letters in Microsoft Word. The circle letters are punch outs from the G 45 line and placed on pop dots for dimension.
I Glimmer Misted white Petaloo Flowers and the Heartfelt Creation leaves. I used the Starburst McGill punch for the middles.
I also incorporated the Alterations Tattered Florals die for the larger flower.
This was a long post, but I had so much fun creating these layouts from this kit. It is very versatile and can be used for girls or boys!! The design is all up to you!! Thanks for looking!!
