BoBunny Mini created with Happy Tails!!

When I opened up my Design Team box of the newest collections from BoBunny, I knew immediately what I wanted to do with the Happy Tails Collection. It is totally irresistibly adorable!!
With 2 kitties who live in our home, Willow and Bentley deserved a photo album of their own . The Happy Tails Collection was PURRRRRFECT for a kitty mini album!! This is the cover to the album. I created the base of the album using chipboard and covered it with the pattern paper. I added some of the  Happy Tails chipboard pieces and brads. I also added some of the BoBunny blossoms and adorned them with brads.

On the spine of the album, I punched a hole on top, placed a brad in the hole and used hand dyed ribbon to match the paper and I created jeweled dangles and also used the tags from the 12x12 chipboard set. The theme was anything cats loved. Butterflies, fish and other kitties.

This is the inside of the front cover. I lined the inside of the mini before I added my pages.

I created a waterfall flip card to hold lots of journaling and photos. This creates a lot of "realestate" on 1 page for your photo's and journaling.

 The smaller journaling cards were perfect to create the fillers on the flip cards. Some were used as frames and others were left blank intentionally for handwritten journaling.

Here is another page spread in the mini. Using bits and pieces of the Happy Tails chipboard helped to fill in small spaces and created great designs. Some of the journaled pieces can be altered. I placed the word "Cat' over a the word "Dog". No dogs allowed in this mini!!

You can create as many flip cards  as will fit on the page.I created a total of 5.

 I cut apart and matted one of the larger journaling cards to create my page "I Love Cats" and added a chipboard flourish.

 This is a view of the mini opened up for a backside view. I really enjoyed using all of the Bobunny embellishments to create this mini that will hold precious memories of our 2 little fur babies.

Blue Fern Studios March Sketch Challenge

 March is here and looks like Blue Fern Studios has a new sketch Challenge!! It is your chance to get creative with a beautiful sketch to follow or inspire, and a chance to win an awesome Blue Fern Studios prize pack!!! With spring around the corner, I think Birds and butterflies and flowers!! Here is my take on the sketch.The new Blue Fern Garden papers are perfect for my layout!!
On this  layout I fussy cut a piece of the lattice in the Blue Fern Garden paper and used pop dots under it to give it depth. I also inked the edges slightly. The title word Heaven Sent is from the Spiritually Speaking set. I scanned a portion of the paper with the butterfly image so that I could make a file of the butterflies to match. I fussy cut them, finger painted them with Rock Candy Stickles and placed them randomly around the page.

   Here is a close up of the Heaven Sent words from the Spiritually Speaking set.

 I used the same variegated 2 toned paint technique for the Veranda Bird Cages and "hung" them from the lattice.  

 I chose to use the  Bordeaux Layered Frame without the base as I wanted an airy and lacy look. I will save the base for another time. I used white acrylic paint for the base. I  then painted a piece of plastic bag using 2 colors of LuminArte Acrylic Glaze and layed it on the chipboard paint side down while the paint was still wet, then peeled it off of the chipboard for a variegated look.

 Here is a close up of the frame. and the 2 different colors used on it for the variegated look.

 Just a little hint. I wanted more butterflies for my layout. And I wanted different sizes. So I scanned an image of a butterfly that was  part of one of my Blue Fern Garden papers and saved it to my computer. I then brought the photo into Photoshop, extracted the butterfly from the image and created different sizes in a file. Then I simply printed out the file, cut apart my butterflies, spread some Rock candy Stickles on them and I have extra butterflies for my layout. Perfect match for my layout!!

Here is another layout I did for my March Post... I wanted to make a fun layout for a Halloween pic I have of my Daughter in law Ashley. She was Barbie last year. I fussy cut the picture and added it to my layout which is heavy in Barbie pink...lol

I used the Chunky Heart panel and cut it apart in various places.

 I primed them with gesso and used Radiant Rain Spray mist in Grapefruit while the spray was till wet.

I decided to do something a little different for this post. I did a layout that I was completely satisfied with. I started to pull out Blue Fern Studios Chip board and thought I could just add to my already completed layout. And that is what I did. Just by adding a few pieces  using an additional color, it changed the whole layout. Now I love it even better. So if you think you love your layouts and projects now, try adding a few pieces of Blue Fern Studios chip board. You will be amazed at the difference!!

I used the Shabby Layered Frame 

to frame my photo. I used a metallic rub for the base and an acrylic glaze for the top detailed layer.

I used the same acrylic glaze for the   Lace Heart Border  which I cut down and only used 2 hearts from the strip.

And once again I used the same acrylic glaze for my  Love Always chipboard. I did not base coat the chip board this time, just 2 coats of the glaze left a beautiful richness to the color over the chipboard.

Splash of Color collides with Something Tattered and the marriage is perfect!!!

For those who know me, You know I just adore butterflies. They can lighten a project and just add a little beauty to them. I found the photo I used on this layout on the Tumbler. Then it took me a few hours to try and find  the incredible artist who owned the photo. Her name is Amber, and her photo inspired this whole layout! Info on her blog below...I have a butterfly file that I created, but the colors were not the vibrant blue/green I wanted. That is where Splash Of Color  Luminarte Silks Acrylic Glaze came to the rescue. I love how with just one light coat, the details of the butterflies still came through. 

I also love my stamps!! And when I was invited to Guest Design for Something Tattered, I jumped at the chance to work with their gorgeous stamps. So on this layout, I did not use one bit of pattern paper. The patterns you see were all created with Something Tattered Stamps on Kraft paper. 

 For the base coat I started with LuminArte Silks Acrylic Glaze in African Jade.

Then in selected areas I painted LuminArte Silks Acrylic Glaze in 2 different colors,  Celedon and Emerald. I used a touch of Periwinkle and Pink Anthurium. 

I also enhanced my flowers using the LuminArte Silks Acrylic Glaze. The pink is Pink Anthurium

and the blue flower was enhanced with Celedon and African Jade to match the butterflies.

I printed up a quote on a piece of the Kraft paper and cut it out. I inked the edges in black  then lined inner pieces with a gel pen. I used pop dots under the words.

 Something Tattered  Stamps used: 

Den Wallpaper Background Stamp was used on the large circle

Frieze Stamp Set was used on the pieces surrounding the circle and the corners.
