Here are the first 5 layouts from my design team work for Swirlydoos. I have 2 more in the works on my project desk right now, just no time to finish them up for reveal day today. The kit is just awesome as always!! I didnt think I could find any fall related photo's, but I dug deep into my photo albums and found a few. And Photoshop helped me enhance some of the photos as well.

So while the October Swirlydoos kit Autumn Splendor waits on my scrapbook table, begging to be opened and created with, I leave you with Gabbies Flowers...The last of Septembers "Bejeweled"...

Swirlydoo "Passion" August kit

The luscious August kit "Passion" is now out at SWIRLYDOOS... I fell in love with the purples as they beckoned me to scrap my wedding photos. My bridesmaids all wore lavender to purple...Wow. that was almost 25 years ago. I had to get working on the LO's for Passion as I was meeting Krissy, Kathi and Kathy at CHA...ORLANDO!!!! It was so much fun and the 4 of us were in scrapbook heaven...But I will save that story for another post...Thanks for taking a peek at my Passion work!!

Ok. So sometimes we are inspired by a scrappers LO.. As for this LO, I was totally inspired by my SWIRLYDOOS design Team mate, Robin (Robinzberdz)...Krissy (Rodeeogrl) sent us these awesome envelopes that some Prima paper came in...Otherwise they would have been thrown out. It is packaging!! But Oh NO, Krissy knew they would be added to some beautiful projects some day...This was it for me. The very talented Beth Root is Guest Designer at Swirlydoos this month and has a challenge for subscribers to use all your scraps from past Swirlydoos kits. I almost always use the kits to the last drop, but did have a few leftovers. So here is the result...So Thank You Robin, Krissy and Beth, such great inspiration...By the way, this is my dear daughter in law Ashley...She loves her Bling!!!!

YOU ARE MY MUSE

This LO was done with the Swirlydoos Main June kit TIMELESS. I added the butterfly, ribbon, jewelry finds, and rose from my own stash. The design was influenced by Gabriellep, and I love her Iron Maiden butterflies dearly so I tried my hand at making my own using her design. Although I purchased her transparency butterflies and they are so beautiful!! I made the rose from coffee filters and Glimmer mist, You can visit Swirlydoos for the my tutorial. TFL...All papers are My Minds Eye from their Bella Bella collection

BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAMS

This LO was done with SWIRLYDOOS June main kit "TIMELESS" and the Prima stitched paper add on... I added the beautiful butterfly created by Gabriellep (thanks Gabi!!) that I purchased at her Etsy shop Gabrielles Tiny Treasures. I created the flower vines but used scraps of the stitched Prima paper to create the tiny cabbage rosettes on the vine. I also added the large Prima Flower (my own stash) that is under the large cabbage rose I made. My daughter has big dreams for her future now that she graduated High School. Love her to death!!!!

Coffee Filter Rose Tutorial

***Product list***
Any thing that will will create 4 different sized hearts. A Cricut, Fiskars templates, free hand, and in my case I used my Sizzix Hearts die, all four on one die plate...It works perfectly. Quick dry glue, Glimmer mist in any color, a hole puncher (the tiny one 1/16), large cone coffee filters, a brad.

Cut out 4 hearts of each of the 4 sizes, and hole punch above the point.

Glimmer mist them lightly, but do not saturate unless you want solid color.
Starting with the smallest heart, start stacking them onto the brad, prong side up, and place a tiny glue dot near the brad so that the hearts are stabilized.
Stack the next 2 sizes. The largest heart is stacked last. This will end up being your bottom layer.
Turn right side up, this is what you have.
Start scrunching up the top layer.
Then take each of the next layers and scrunch up around the top layer.
Open it up and for this one I curled the edges of each petal.
For this one I just crumbled the rose lightly and curled just a few petals.
You can use any kinds of brads, You can cover your brads with stickles, or glitter or seed beads, just about anything. You can ink the edges of the flower, or you can just Glimmer mist the inner side of the petals to give the middles a blush effect. The possibilities are endless. Of course you can add more layers for a fuller rose, or omit the larger hearts for a smaller rose. And you can use cardstock or paper. I will be also be teaching another technique using organza.

I designed this LO for SWIRLYDOOS May kit "VINTAGE CHIC".I tried to incorporate some of the techniques we have learned. So the flower is the tutorial I did, The flourishes are from the tutorial for Faux Say It in Crystals or pearls by Lynn (FOAMY), the transparency butterfly is colored with alcohol ink, and I used Beggahunas sketch for Vintage Chic. http://www.swirlydoos.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?8835
Check out Swirlydoos for the tutorials!! http://www.swirlydoos.com/page.php?36 The coral and green colored paper is actually the backing Kraft paper that our Prima transparency came in, I used Glimmer Mist to color the paper. I also had a chance to play with the glimmer screens I had, Love it!! I will be doing a tutorial on how to make the butterfly...Which is simply embossing a stamp on transparency, then coloring with alchohol ink...The photo is my daughter before Prom.

HAPPY EARTH DAY!!!

Be good to our planet...What are you doing to keep our planet GREEN!!!! Plant a tree, recycle more, save water and energy!! We can even scrapbook green. I use the cardboard box my packages come in!! I use the paper that backs my Prima flowers. It's that pretty blue!!! I make flowers out of kraft paper. Kraft paper is what they use to make paper bags...So please do your part to save our planet, right now it's the only one we have!!!!!
