Heartfelt Creations Alumni Design Team August Blog Hop.

Welcome to this  months  Heartfelt Creations Alumni Blog Hop. I just love looking through my stash of Heartfelt Creations stamps and dies to get my mojo going. This month the color purple whispered in my ear. If you came here from the very talented Glenda Brooks Blog, you're on the right track!!

For the flowers I used HCPC 3468 Tattered Blossoms PreCut Set. I die cut them with the Tattered Blossoms Die.  I sprayed them with Lindy's Stamp Gang Flat Fabio Frenchy's Pink Pouf spray. Then painted on some Lindy's Moon Shadow mist in Fantom  Fusia.  I gave the middle of the flowers  a shot of Lindy's StarBurst Spray in California Golden Poppy then popped a half pearl in the middle and used some liquid pearls in gold around the half pearl.

I watered down some Lindys Magicals in Pop Rock Purple and washed it round my photos and flowers. I stamped HCPC 3323 Large Elegant Word over the painted areas.

Unfortunately the leaves I used are a retired stamp from Heartfelt Creations, Leafy Swirls.  To color them I used Lindy's Stamp Gang StarBurst spray in Maidenhair Fern Green with a bit of the California Golden Poppy that I painted on to highlight them. The die cut Sizzix Frames were primed with gesso, then sprayed with Lindy's Moon Shadow Mist in Peg Leg Pete Purple. (say that fast 5 times!!!)  I also painted on  a bit of Lindy's Magicals in Pop Rock Purple from the Under The Boardwalk set, then sprayed it again using a couple of layers for a washed color.

I stamped HCPC 3469 Tattered Blossom Swirls Precut set stamps all round the layout. I painted the flowers with the Magicals as well. The corrugated cardboard that I adhered the Blue Fern Studios paper to was painted with Pop rock Purple, then sprayed with Peg Leg Pete Purple. I used a tiny bit of gesso around the very edges of the layout.

I took these photo's of my dear grandmother about year before she passed away. She was my Angel. She loooooved flowers!!

Now head on to Mary Faus's Blog to continue on the Hop!! Make sure you finish the hop and leave comments. The winner receives a $25 gift certificate to shop at Heartfelt Creations.
We will announce a winner at noon on Sat. August 30th. So check back.
Thanks for stopping by....Hope you were inspired!

Pretty As A Picture

This months Lindy's Stamp Gang Color Challenge colors have some of  the most beautiful jewel toned colors I have ever worked with. They are also some of my favorite colors. I love the violet and blues together.  Throw in  touch of green and you can't go wrong. Experimenting with mixing some of the colors together, gave me a variety of tones for the flowers. For the flowers I used Sweet Violet Purple Teal and Pretty in Pink Pink.

I just searched the internet for flowers in the blue family that would match the colors on the challenge. The photo of these morning Glorys were perfect!

To create the base of my layout, I mounted a piece of white card stock onto  piece of thick corrugated cardboard with ModPodge. I coated the white cardstock with some gesso. This gave my base the feeling of canvas. When it was dry, I peeled back the paper and top layer of cardboard around the edges of the base, curled back some cutouts and wrinkled the corners. I sprayed it, used molding paste, then did some masking and  little stamping for added texture.

I fell in love with the little nests filled with Robins eggs that Gabrielle Pollacco  creates for her projects and had to give it  try. I used excelsior for the nest, and the eggs were rolled from Fimo Clay. I added Hydrangea Blue spray and  touch of Whale Watch to some gesso and created the robins egg blue to paint the eggs.  I used some black acrylic pint watered down a bit to speckle the eggs, Just glue them into the nest. They are adorable and easy to create.

The die cut leaves and the stamen in the flowers were sprayed with Maidenhair Fern Green.  I mounted the photo on  piece of corrugated cardboard that was primed with gesso, then spayed with Sweet Violet Purple Teal.

I coated the Blue Fern Studios Chipboard with white gesso, let it dry, then heat embossed it with  Hydrangea Blue Mauve embossing powder. Lindys embossing powder has a two/toned effect that is beautiful! When the light hits it, you can see a bit of violet in this blue color.

I really love this months Lindy's Color Challenge colors. I hope you join us this month with your own creations!! I know I would love to see what you do!! Grab  Lindy's Limited Edition August 2014 Challenge Mega Set to get the color party started!! Here re the colors in this months challenge. They are sure to become some of your "go to" colors.

Bridal Shower Kraft Gift Bag Tutorial for BoBunny

http://bobunny.blogspot.com/

BoBunny is continuing their feature on Kraft Gift Bags. For this feature I chose to create  a Bridal Shower Wishing Well project along with a tutorial. I think this would  be a fun project to do for any occasion. What a great way to share recipes, thoughts or good wishes. What could you use this idea for??
Here is my Recipe Card in Kraft Bag for Bridal Shower Wishing Well...

To cover the Kraft bag, cut a piece of patterned paper just slightly smaller than the surface of the bag, ink the edges and adhere the paper to the flap side of the bag.

For the flap, I used a die which happens to be the perfect size for the flap on the bag. I also cut  the same shape using thin chipboard as well. This will give the flap some weight when adhered to the paper. Ink the edges attach the trimmed die cut to the flap of the bag.

Attach a flower to the middle of the die-cut flap.

This is the underside of the flap. Place a chipboard circle. behind the flower. This will give it additional weight to keep the flap down without the use of magnets. It also gives it a nice clean finish.

Using a hole punch, punch out a half circle in the top middle of the bag. Now trim a recipe card so that it slides in the bag with ease. The half circle punch out makes it easy to pull out the recipe card.

Now time to decorate the outside of the bag. Die cut a small tag and layer it. I placed some lined patterned paper to write a small sentiment on. Do some random stamping and add the letters to the side of the bag.

This is the finished Recipe in a Gift Bag, for a Bridal Shower Wishing Well. I think this is great idea to collect recipes for the bride to be. The concept could be applied to different themes. How about tips for new moms at a baby shower!!! The ideas are endless!!

BoBunny..Go Back to School in Style!!!

Going back to school in style can be fun. I took a simple black and white composition notebook and covered it with patterned paper. Then I began building my design by fussy cutting designs from other BoBunny papers from the Pop Quiz Collection and started building upon the base.

I fussy cut the Progress Report design and mounted it on corrugated cardboard. I slipped some edge punched strips underneath before adding it to the middle of the cover.

The flowers and leaves were all die cuts from some of my various flower and leaf die collections and assembled in layers. The BoBunny buttons were used for the middles of the flowers.

Just another closeup of the flowers on the cover.

Blue Fern Studios August 2014 Blog Post

It is another beautiful day at Blue Fern Studios. Today I will share with you a layout, a mini and a trio of tags. For all 3 projects,  I used Blue Fern Studios Ombre Dreams paper. I did some masking with molding paste and some inking on the background of my layout. The color I used on all 3 projects uses Lindy's Stamp Gang August Limited Edition Color Challenge set.

To color the Wild Field Stem, once again, I heat embossed it using a few different colors from Lindys Stamp Gang. Hydrangea Blue Mauve , Midnight Violet for the flower part and  Reindeer Moss Green for the stem. I heat embossed it twice to get 2 different colors on the flower part and let some of it bleed into the stem.

For the Majestic Frame, I heat embossed it with Lindys Reindeer Moss Green and added a couple of jewels, then just kissed the edges with some soft charcoal ink.

For the leaves of the flowers, I used the silk leaves that I pulled off of the store bought silk flowers. I painted them with white gesso, then sprayed them with Lindys in Hydrangea Blue, and  Maidenhair Fern Green. The colors are amazing. The smaller roses were colored the same way.

For the cover of the mini, I used a couple of the Berry Stems and the Memories frame from the Memory Frame Set.There is a tutorial for the flowers HERE.

I painted the frame and the Berry Stems with white gesso, then heat embossed it using Lindys Stamp Gang embossing powder in  Maidenhair Fern Green.

The Circle Motif was heat embossed straight onto raw chipboard with Lindy's Geranium Coral Blush . I gave it  double coat for texture.

I popped in some large eyelets to the front and back covers and sprayed some seam binding in Wild Honeysuckle Coral to use as the ties.

For the spine of the mini I used Tim Holtz Grunge paper, coated it with gesso and after it dried I sprayed 3 coats of Lindys Starburst Spray in Wild Honeysuckle Coral. Wow..This color is gorgeous!!!

For the tags, I used the Framed Trinkets set which contains all 3 pieces. I used cut out pieces from the Bits Of Honey set.

I coated the chipboard with white gesso and heat embossed them with Lindy's embossing powder in Geranium Coral Blush.

Once the tags were complete, I gave them an overall spray with Lindys Starburst spray in Wild Honeysuckle Coral for extra color and shimmer.

I hope you enjoyed my latest creations. Until next time, grab some BFS chipboard. There are new designs being added to the collection all of the time. Enjoy... Dont forget to check out the color challenge at Lindys using these gorgeous colors!!!

Lindys Stamp Gang August Color Chllenge.

It is August already. That means another wonderful Color Challenge at Lindys Stamp Gang..The colors this month are simply divine!!!
The colors included in this Special Edition set are the following:
Hydrangea Blue
Maidenhair Fern Green
Wild Honeysuckle Coral
Sweet Violet Purple Teal
Whale Watch Blue

Here is my layout using the Special Edition Color Challenge Mega set. I found the photo of the dragonfly on Tumblr and thought the colors were a perfect match!! I used Blue Fern Studios paper collection Ombre Dreams. Lindy's colors this month are once again a perfect match!! I masked the background with texture paste. I sprayed some Sweet Violet Purple Teal Starburst  Spray into the texture paste before applying it to the paper. Then I randomly sprayed and splashed Hydrangea Blue.

For the Blue Fern Studios Chipboard, I primed it in white gesso, when it was dry, I used the Embossing powder in Maidenhair Fern Green. Once it was heat embossed I splashed  little Hydrangea Blue on it as well.

For the stamped dragonfly, I fussy cut it out and I  used a variety of the sprays from the set.

I inked the edges of the tags and sprayed some of the flowers to enhance the colors. I heat embossed some of my leafy die cuts s well with the Maidenhair Fern Green.

For the Blue Fern Studios Chipboard Lace Heart Border, I primed it with gesso and after it dried heat embossed it with the  Maidenhair Fern Green.

Here is the other dragonfly on my page. This is an older Tim Holtz Stampers anonymous stamp set, but one of my faves. I stamped 2 of them for each dragonfly, and I just cut off the head and body off of one, and layered just the wings for the double layered effect.

Head on over to the Lindys August Color challenge Blog Post for all of the details on how you can enter to win a wonderful $50.00 gift certificate to the Lindy’s Stamp Gang store!!
