49 and Market "Mermaid Tails"

Hello Lovelies. I am sharing my latest 49 and Market Design Team project with you, in the hopes that you are inspired by their new line Shipwreck. I was inspired by the paper Atlantis from the collection. The only thing I could think about while staring at the paper,  were mermaids tails. Sometimes we are inspired by other artists. In this case I was inspired by the very talented Sharon Ziv. So I Googled a PNG of mermaids tails and cut them out of thick chipboard. I painted them with white gesso, used texture paint on the tail part, and layered pieces of strips of the Atlantis paper to resemble the scales on the tail. From there, the whole layout started to come together piece by piece. The background was created by using a stencil, texture paste, and sprays.

I love the little Port Hole chipboard from the Archival board. Although it was bit small for a photo, it worked perfectly for this layout portraying how small we really are in a vast ocean of mermaids!!

Here is a closeup of both of the fins on the tails. I used the Archival chipboard to adorn them. I layered them, added a few Art Stones and glass glitter, then used Lindy's Starburst sprays for a washed effect. I loved adding the glitter epoxy coated bubbles that are a part of the Underwater embellishment set. I wish you could see the sparkle.
Here is a closer view of the tails. I cut strips of Atlantis, fussy cut the scalloped edges, and after they were layered on the tail, I used my fingernail to gently lift the scallops to give it texture. I truly love that this one piece of paper inspired me to do this whole layout. Then again, I find that a lot of my 49 and Market products inspire me to kick start my creative side!

I hope you were inspired by my layout. Grab a collection and watch how it kick starts your creativity as it did for me.  Happy Scrapping lovelies. Till next time.

49 and Market..."Breath"

Hello Lovelies. Today I would like to share with you a layout that uses colors I would normally reserve for a card or an album. But I fell in love with the paper that reminded me of chalkboard. Any color would compliment the dark background. I chose the lovely orange in the Blossom Blends Cantaloupe flowers. sprinkle in a little greenery, and you have the makings of a perfectly balanced color scheme. I could see any of the 49 and Market flowers to compliment this paper collection. It is just that awesome.

I paired the darker and lighter color flowers in the orange hues. It really makes the brighter color pop off the page. I created some die cut leaves around all of the clusters of flowers.  I die cut them from white card stock, and painted them with various sprays and metallic paints.

I die cut some frames, and used Gabi's Line Stitch stamp. The title is simple but effective. The 2 photos are of my grandaughter taken 2 years apart. A breath in between..All I can do is breath in her beauty.

I love the reed wood embellishment in the flower pack. Paired with the beauty of the flowers, it lends a woodsy element to the page. The photos were taken on the edge the forest behind my home. I wanted the layout to portray the feeling of a walk in the garden in Autumn. Right before the last flowers fade....

I dry brushed and flicked some white gesso over the entire layout. Just a light touch goes a long way. It lightened up the darkness and added some texture of the background paper.

I hope you enjoy today's inspiration from 49 and Market. I really enjoy working with such gorgeous product. It makes me happy!!
