Scraps OF Elegance Second Reveal*** Simply Shabby Chic*** / Splash Of Color Guest Designer!!

I was away at a scrap retreat this past weekend and worked on my Scraps Of Elegance projects. It was a fun weekend with friends and I had a blast just relaxing and creating with this gorgeous kit, Simply Shabby Chic. For my first layout I used the Prima Delight paper. I recently added the new Prima masks to my arsenal and thought I would take this opportunity to use one of them. I did some machine sewing around the layouts and the tags. YES, I did bring my sewing machine with me to the retreat. I actually had another scrapper come over and take pics of my machine!! One of my 6 beloved Singer Featherweights. They seemed fascinated that I sewed on paper!! I seemed fascinated that they never had...And I also took the opportunity to use Scraps Of Elegance kit to showcase my first project reveal as Guest Designer for Splash Of Color..Silks, crackle paint, Inka Gold Metallic Rubs, oh my.....SUPER EXCITED!!

I created the flowers using the cream piece of card stock from the Card Stock add on kit. 1 sheet made all of the flowers and leaves as well as the flourishes. I used Splash Of Color Silks Acrylic Glaze to color the flowers. And I used Silks Acrylic Glaze in Fuzzy Peach,  Nutmeg and Coral Berry and rubbed with Inka Gold Metallic Rub in Old Silver. Then I used Silks Acrylic Glaze in Pretty Peridot and  Inka Gold Metallic Rub in Yellow/green to color the leaves. The flowers were die cut from one of Sizzix  Susans Garden dies. The middles were created with a little brown Flower Soft and Splash of Color Pearl Pen in Copper Pearl.

The frame was die cut with a Sizzix die, and painted with Splash Of Color Crackle Paint in white. It is amazing and dries shiny!! Then it was rubbed with a very light coat of Silks Acrylic Paint in Nutmeg using a foam applicator and rubbing it into the frame. Because the crackle dries shiny, the paint sunk into the cracks and left a light coat on the crackle. I love the look.

I used some texture paint mixed with a little gesso to thin it out and spread it over a brick mask using a wide palette knife. Then I rubbed more of the Silks Acrylic Glaze watered down a bit in Nutmeg  over the dried stones. Then I stippled just a little more over the stones when they were dry.  Using a charcoal pencil I outlined each stone for definition.

Just another view. I left the tag banner blank for the moment as I try to figure out what the title of this layout will be.

The flourish is another Sizzix die cut using the same technique as on the frame.

Here is another view of the cluster of flowers I created.
