Hello beautiful friends. The gorgeous papers from the Vintage Remnants collection are easy to dress up. After mounting the 12x12 paper onto a piece of corrugated cardboard, I wet, and pulled back the edges of the paper, then edge distressed it using the blade of a scissor. Once it dried, I painted the exposed cardboard and the distressed edges with white gesso I used a little texture paste with the Iris Tapestry Stencil Mask by Prima, and Lindys Starburst sprays in Delphinium Turquoise and Belles of Ireland Green for color. The stamping was done with Pascale’s Rations Stamp set. Then the layering began...Each layer of paper was mounted on corrugated cardboard and distressed the same way, building the layers for dimension.
The beautiful vine from the Archival Board "Love" and the , and the lacey trim from the Archival Board "Treasure", were both treated with texture paste, and then colored with Silks pearlized acrylic paint.
I mixed some Art Stones and microbeads together using soft gel, and tucked them under the cascade of Stargazer flowers. I also tucked some moss in a few places to give the layout an earthy feel.
You can see the multiple layers I used to create dimension. I love the rustic feel of the corrugated cardboard under the papers. And saving the planet one piece of cardboard at a time is good for the earth!!
When creating the layers, I placed a few pieces of cardboard in between each layer to build it up. These types of layouts look gorgeous in a shadowbox type frame. It is like a 12x12 piece of art preserved under glass.
I also created a butterfly file for your personal use. Just right click, save image to your computer and print on white cardstock. For the layout, I cut them out, finger painted some Icicle Stickles on them and painted the antennae with a black Sharpie. I added some speckles on the wings using the Sharpie.
Thank you for joining me for your daily inspiration!
