3 Panel Photo Holder by Lisa Gregory

Hello Dusty Attic Lovers.  I simply adore the color palette in the Mood Board this month. I knew exactly what paper I would use, and exactly what Dusty Attic chipboard and paint I would use, I knew I wanted a set of small frames, and frilly swirls lighten up the design. Adding some beautiful Dusty Attic blooms added to the feminine charm for my 3 panel photo display piece.


This is a closeup of the top piece in the 3 panel display. All of the Dusty Attic chipboard that was used in this project was painted with Dusty In Colour Cashmere, dried, then Faded Denim was lightly dabbed on the pieces. When they were completely dried, the Clear Crackle Varnish was brushed on generously.

This is a closeup of the bottom piece in the 3 panel display.The piece are held together with small book rings in an antiqued bronze finish.  I just punched holes through the cardboard.


In this closeup, you can appreciate the layers on the panels. All of the paper was mounted on corrugated cardboard. I left it in the raw form to give the piece some warmth against the gray in the paper, and lets the yellow just pop off the page.


I printed up some butterflies from my digital files, cut them out, rubbed on some Stickles for some sparkle and randomly adhered a couple of them to each of the 3 panels.


I found these great decorative hangers from Anna Griffin. This one was perfect to hang and display my sweet photos of my granddaughter.

Journal Buddy Blog Hop

 I created a 12x12 layout  to showcase the Journal Buddy. 


You don't have to add lines to you project to use the journaling buddy. In my case, because I have heavy stenciling using modeling paste and the surface was very uneven, I taped the journaling Buddy to my layout, and slipped the cut out stamped words under the Journaling Buddy, through the slits. It isn't perfect, but I wasn't aiming for perfection. But I do like the fact that it allowed me to space it all evenly without even thinking about it.



You can arrange the journal Buddy lines anywhere. It really does make life easier when it comes to lining up those words. I used the straight lines, but you can also use the curvy lines as well. There are many possibilities.


I stamped the sentiment, which is actually 2 different stamps that I was able to use together to create my journaling. After I stamped them onto cardstock, I cut them out each individually.

Jennifer Mahoney's Birthday and a special Dusty Attic DT Gift...

 This beautiful talented person is the reason I LOVE chipboard!!! As the owner, designer, aka the "Boss", Dusty Attic has always been a company I have wanted to design for. My dream came true last year when I received an email inviting me to join the Design Team. 
This month was Jennifer Mahoney's birthday (ssshhhhh, she is 29.99 plus shipping and handling). Jen Burns (Jens beautiful friend, and our DT leader at DA) had a fabulous idea and had the team get together and we all made a layout that Jen placed in a HUGE album to surprise Jennifer with at a birthday/get away/retreat for her. Besides a layout, I thought I would include a mini album so that Jennifer can place all of the Big Memories special photos from her weekend into one place. 

 Happy Happy Birthday Jennifer. I am ever so very grateful and honored to be  on the Dusty Attic Design Team. And a big heartfelt thank you to Jen Burns for making this project happen!! I totally adore the Dusty Attic Family. 

Here she is..The queen of chipboard!!!

Yvonne Blair DT layout. It's Up To You...

It's Up To You...Everything you do, every choice you make, it's up to you. I opt to see the beauty in the everyday. This is something I teach my children, and now my grandchildren. Yvonne's stamp for Impression Obsession,  It's Up To You, rings so true. I started my 12 x 12 layout by adhering a 12x12 piece of Prima Paper from the Rossibelle collection to a piece of 12x12 corrugated cardboard using Mod Podge. After it dried, I sprayed the edges of the layout with water, let it soak in and peeled back the top layer of the cardboard and the patterned paper. I then wrinkled, bent, twisted and shaped the edges exposing the cardboard underneath. I love the texture  of the corrugated part of the cardboard. Once it dried, I painted the corrugated part, and the peeled back part with white gesso, After the gesso dried, I sprayed the painted parts with colored sprays in a shimmery grey toned color.


I made sure I left a part of the lighter part of the paper free of embellishments and stamped the It's Up To You stamp onto that part. I  chose Black Archival ink as it stood out among the blacks in the paper.


I created the middle part of the layout by covering different sized pieces of corrugated cardboard, and layered them for dimension. I painted the Dusty Attic chipboard frame and dusted it with Art Basics Mica Powder. I added the tiny Dusty Attic butterflies to the frame.The small green dots are Prima Pebbles (the smallest ones) and are painted with Art  Alchemy Paint in Opal Magic Green-Gold.



 I created some of my own flowers using papers from the Rossibelle papers and mixed them in with flowers from the paper collection, I just love floral clusters!! Especially Prima floral clusters!!


 Here is a view of the floral cluster under the frame. I also used Prima die cut leaves to tuck underneath my floral clusters. Just the hint of light green blends in well. I used Art  Alchemy Paint in Opal Magic Green-Gold. The butterflies are from a printable file I created, then printed it up and cut them out. I painted them with Glossy Accents to give them a bit of shine.

Texture and Color for Dusty Attic

Hello Dusty Attic Lovers. I have a layout to share that is full of texture and soft dreamy color. I started my 12x12 layout by adhering a 12x12 piece of  Prima patterned paper on a piece of 12x12 corrugated cardboard. I adhered torn pieces of fabric, canvas, lace and texture paste and the Crosshatch Stencil to the background. The weight of whatever I place on my layout will not warp my paper. Once all of my background elements were adhered onto the paper, I prepared all of my chipboard pieces with white gesso. Once all of my elements were adhered to the background, the entire layout was covered with a heavy coat of white gesso. This created a clean blank canvas to work color magic.


I created a wreath using a piece from the Circle Frame Set at the base, then layered the Vine Frame #2 on top. After the layout was completed, I added the Dusty Attic Pearls on random parts of the frame.


I used a combination of Color Blast Colour Paste, Lindys Stamp Gang Starburst Sprays and Prima Alchemy Paints to add color to my layout. I also added Prima Art Stones large and small using Prima 3D gel. When they were dried, a brushed them with white gesso, then color. A Botanic Accent #1 was used at the bottom of the floral. cluster to create a pleasing flow of accents. Pearls were added to it as well. For a watercolor effect, spray your surface with a fine mist of water, then spray or paint  your colors on immediately and tilt your project to make the colors run.


I absolutely LOVE the Brick Wall Panel. Of course I used the inner parts. I cut some of them into different lengths and staggered them. Yes even bricks can be glamorized with sparkly color.


I used the larger piece in the Ornate Corners #13 set. I sprayed it with Lindys Stamp Gang color sprays in grey/blue/silvery  tones.


I layered 2 pieces of Prima paper to create the mat for my photo, distressing the edges. Underneath, I lifted the mat with a couple of pieces of cardboard.


I adhered Prima Art Pebbles on top of the Bubbles chipboard. Using the inner parts of the chipboard to create my dimensional bubbles effects. I painted them with Art Basics Alchemy paint. I love the way it shimmers.
