I created the blue flowers from die cutting patterned paper, then watered down some Denim paint and just lightly brushed it over the petals. I made the nest with Spanish moss and moss purchased at Joanns. The tiny eggs which are the true size of hummingbird eggs were created with Fimo Clay and painted with Oceania. The Dusty Attic Soot colour was watered down a bit and using a toothbrush, I flecked the black paint on them for a speckled look.
I clustered some Dusty blooms with my handmade blooms. The leaves are also from Dusty Attic.
The Ornate Corner was treated the same way the String chipboard was done.
Here is a closeup of one of the curled back ends showing the mix of flowers. I wanted the blue flowers to have a painterly feel. Like watercolors.
The word Discover, taken from the Words #3 pack was treated the same way as the other pieces.
Finally, this is just a closeup of the photo and frame. I die cut some tags to place behind the framed photo.

ReplyDeleteI am so inspired by your talent. Hummingbirds are such romantic little creatures. So for me and that reason, your color palette is spot on. I love the addition of eggs and their symbol of Springs promise once again of life everlasting. As well as the inspiration, I am grateful also for learning that Dusty Attic will get yet another look by me. I have been ignorant of the fact that they carry any more that die cut chipboard pieces. I am a long standing color mediums hound. I learned by clicking on the link to this blog from Chic Craftique to view your piece that Dusty Attic deserves a serious second look. I love your project. Beautifully designed and executed. I hope you won't mind if I follow you for more insight, inspiration and education. I'm 60 now but I only dream still of having talent like you possess. Kudos to you. TFS.
ReplyDeleteTruly Beautiful! Thank you for sharing! Inspirational! Hugs Julie xox
