FabScraps *** The Victoria Collection ***

FabScraps latest 2 collections are filled with beauty and fantasy. The Victoria Collection has a gorgeous Ballerina Theme as well as Hot Air Balloons, Paper Dolls  and Unicorns. The designs of distressed dots, stripes and washed out images give this paper line a beautiful look.  I chose 2 of the papers from the Victoria Collection to complete my layout. The instructions a products can be found at the bottom of this post. The photo is from a self portrait shoot I did a couple of years ago. The quote was found on Pinterest. I used my  Post Card Edge Tutorial to create the background.

The beautiful vine leaves are a new die I found from Cottage Cutz. The little flowers are from my Spellbinders Donna Salazar Itty Bitty Blossoms die. Love the sweet little roses they create. I inked the edges were a rose colored ink before rolling them .

I did some machine stitching on the layout. Clustering the mix of die cut flowers was fun. I just jammed them all together and scrunched them up a bit. I used a combo of Spellbinders daisies, Tim Holtz Tattered Florals and a McGill Starburst punch to create the larger flowers.

Just another closeup of the floral arrangements.

The butterflies are from a file I created for the latest Swirlydoos kit. You can find them HERE. I just added some tiny ink dots to the wings before inking the edges and  distressing them with Rock Candy Stickles.

The journaling was created in Photoshop CS5, printed up on a scrap piece of paper from the Victoria Collection and cut apart inked and adhered to the layout.

Zva Creative May DT Blog Hop

Zva Creative and our talented Design Team welcome you to join us for our May Blog Hop! We are happy to have you join us and hope you enjoy all that we have to share with you along the way!

The Blog Hop begins at Zva Creative's blog! Be sure head on over to check it out! Leave a comment there for a chance to win an extra prize package just for visiting the blog and telling us that you stopped by! You will also find a complete list of all the participating blogs there (in case there is a glitch along the way).

As you know, Zva offers many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals.  We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was asked to share a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project.  If you like what you see you can find a list of stores and online retailers that sell Zva HERE.

Sometimes my friends see a pic of their little beauties, and the first   thing that comes to mind is "Lisa would love to scrap this!!".Oh they know me sooooo darn well. My wonderful friend Carrie snapped this pic of her gorgeous little Stella on the beach while she was staring out into the beautiful blue Gulf, and when Carrie saw what she captured, she thought about me. I used the papers from Swirlydoos June Kit "So Chic". How I adore the Donna Salazar Botanique Collection. The sentiment stamped on the card is from Technique Tuesday, from the Dreamy Daisy set.

The gorgeous pearl Flourish is the Zva Creative Harmony - White Pearl - [CRB-05CA-138].
I just love the sheen of the pearls. They add the perfect sparkle to your pages.

The Zva Creative Flowers are light and airy like spring and summer. The larger flower is the 4.25" Flower with leaves - Pink - [FL-04CA-102]  the smaller flowers on either side are  2.5" Dual- Flowers - White & Dusky Pink -[FL-04CA-128]   I added 2  leaves from the 36pc leaves #I - 1.5" -[FL-04CA-111] pack to the side of the small pink flower. I created a file for the butterflies that can be found HERE, I just added some tiny dots to the wings.

The gate was created from using Tim Holtz  Distress Crackle paint on a Prima Gate mask.  I love the finish. It reminds me of old peeling paint on weathered  iron.

A closeup of the 2.5" Dual- Flowers - White & Dusky Pink -[FL-04CA-128] . with some leaves tucked into the sides. 0

The 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, May 30th on each of the five winning blogs. The full list will be found on Zva's blog as well. We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday... plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there.

All you need to do is leave a comment on this blog post... you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. However, the more times you comment along the blog hop path, the more chances you will have to win.

My Inspiration***Swirlydoos So Chic June Kit***

My Grandmother has been my inspiration since I was a small child. She was a seamstress, and I remember sitting at her side for hours while she was sewing at her machine. She is still with us, but I no longer able to sew. The picture was taken a couple of months ago on my last visit to see her. She always has a smile on her beautiful face. She also loves roses and had an incredible garden, so I surrounded her in roses.
The Swirlydoos June kit has the most beautiful papers and embellies. The colors are incredibly beautiful. all of the add ons add so much more to the main kit and always coordinate beautifully.
You can visit the Swirlydoos Gallery to see more inspirational layouts from the kit.

One of my new purchases is the leafy vine die from CottageCutz. It is wonderful!!! I diecut them from the kit paper and sprayed a little Glimmer Mist to give them a slight tint. Then wrinkle distressed them slightly for dimension.

I created a butterfly file to match this specific paper in mind. You can grab your file HERE at Swirlydoos. I printed this size up on a 5 x 7 white piece of card stock.

Here is another closeup of the flowers. And I adore the Teresa Collins photo corner embellies. The detail is so beautiful on them.

The gorgeous  KaiserCraft paper that are in the add on flower kit are among my favorite. and the sweet lavender Prima flowers add a wonderful touch of color.

I created my own letter file in Photoshop, cut them apart, and inked them for my title.

Be It Ever So Humble...

A perfect sunny day in Florida...

FabScraps Victoria Collection.

There are 2 new Collections from FabScraps. The Rustic Collection and the Victoria Collection. Both are beautiful in style and color. This layout was done with the papers from the Victoria collection. I just adore the theme of ballerina's, fantasy, little girls and Hotair balloons!! There are 4 different color themes in the collection and all are just beautiful!. I chose the yellow for my project. I just love the lavender in the page and decided to accent that color.

I adore that you can just punch out the flowers from a page and layer and distress them any way you want. There are lots of possibilities in creating with these flowers layers.

Another great element to the collection is that there are stickers, cutouts and Diecuts that coordinate with the papers in each collection. The embellies are a great edition to add to your projects. I used the tickets and stickers on this LO.

Swirlydoos***Zva Creative***

Swirlydoos May kit** So Chic** is just that...The Boutanique papers by Donna Salazar are sinply yummy in color and design. And the gorgeous Blue crystal flourishes in my Zva Creative stash compliment the papers beautifully.  The photo in the LO is my daughter who proclaims every day that she loves what she does for a living. So I chose a title to portray her feelings. Bing a woman Chef in a mans world is pretty tough for a woman. There are very few extremely successful female Chefs in the world. Yes, we have our celebrity Chefs, and they have bought woman to the forefront in the field of culinary art. Bravo to them for proving that woman in the industry can work just as hard and successfully come up as their equals. Now if I could turn my obsession, (umm, I mean hobby) into my profession...That would be sweet!!!

I chose to highlight the beautiful rosy colors in the papers by creating some of my flowers by using  Donna Salazars Grand Peony die by Spellbinders. I layered a few different size flowers and topped them with a button. The roses were made using Tim Holtz Tattered Pinecone die. I inked the edges slightly with Chestnut Roan Chalk Ink. I cut a circle, created the outer edge with a Martha Stewart Corner punch and cut out an inner circle  Click HERE for the tutorial.

The smaller blue fourishes on the bottom of the decorative circle are   Symmetrical Flourishes - small (M) - Soft Blue Crystal -[CRW-05CA-162]. It is a double pack of sweet crystal flourishes. I also used Spellbinders Persian Motifs die for the gorgeous cutouts under the flower. I tucked in some Teresa Collins Fabrications Trinkets in pink between the motif layers.

The large crystal Flourish is Fancy - Soft Blue Crystal -[CRB-05CA-119] from Zva Creative. The color is just brilliant. I printed up the letters on a 4x6 piece of patterned Paper, cut them out and created the title journaling.

I love the velvety look of the Zva Creative Leaves, 36pc leaves #I - 1.5" - [FL-04CA-111. They have a few styles and sizes to choose from. The 1.5" inch size is wonderful!! Just tuck them in anywhere. Here is a closeup of the flower. Please visit Zva's Blog to see more inspiration from the fabulous Design Team.

I just realized that I didn't place any butterflies on this LO. It's not to late. I leave you with this file to print up cut out and embellish to use on your projects. Have fun!! For more butterfly files to match the kit, visit the  Swirlydoos forums HERE...

FabScraps Friday

This week I am playing with the beautiful new collection from FabScraps, The Rustic Collection.  The photo is from a Photoshoot I did a while back. The mommy knows, everytime I use baby Abigails photo, she gets the layout!! Sweet deal on both parts. Who said blue was just for boys!!??

I die cut the flowers from Spellbinders/Donna Salazar Grand Peony Die. Did a little Spiral Rose from small scraps and added a pearl to the middle.

The title Dreamer is a chipboard piece I painted with Lumierre Paint. The word Beautiful was a file I created in Photoshop, printed up and printed onto a scrap of FabScraps paper, cut out the letters and adhered them too a Tattered Banner die cut. The circle was done ining my Decorative Circle Punch Tutorial.

The flowers closely resemble my Swirly Hibiscus Tutorial except that I used  my Coffee Filter Spiral Rose Tutorial  for the middles.

Supplies Used:
FabScrapsThe Rustic Collection C48 004
FabScraps die cut DC49 019 Dreamer
FabScraps paper book MC0049
Martha Stewart Punch
Donna Salazar Grand Peony die by Spellbinders
Distress Ink Vintage Photo
pearls
Tim Holtz Tattered Banner Die
Lumiere paint

Instructions:
Ink background paper The Rustic collection C48 004. Using the opposite side of another piece of the same paper, cut it down to 10 1/2 x 10 1/2. Edge distress and ink the edges. Adhere to the background paper but leave about 1/2 inch of the edges free of adhesive. Using the scrap strips left from cutting down the paper, use a decorative punch and punch both sides of the strips, and then cut the strips in half. Tuck the punched strips under and between the edges of the 2 papers all the way around.  On the underneath side of your LO, carefully cut out the excess background paper in a square. This will give you extra paper to die cut the flowers. I used Donna Salazars Grand Peony Die for the flowers. Wrinkle and ink each flower for dimension, then layer the flowers and top with a tiny spiral rose using paper from the paper book MC0049 to create them. Place a pearl in the middle of each flower. Cut and ink leaves from the same paper. Cut a circle and punch around the circle using a corner punch then cut out an inner circle. Adhere the decorative circle to the middle of the layout. Arrange your flowers and leaves in the lower right hand corner of the circle. Mat your photo and edge distress and ink the mat. Place the photo in the middle of the circle. Paint the chipboard DC49 019 Dreamer and adhere to top as shown. Using smaller letters adhere them to a die cut banner and place over title as shown.

May SwirlyHues Challenge

It's time to unveil our May Swirlyhues Challenge! I am hosting this month and have chosen the colors and storyboard for you. I chose to use the Swirlydoos May kit "So Chic" for my layout. I absolutley love the colors this month. And I LOVE the papers!!

Here is the storyboard...

The Sketch

Here is my take on the Storyboard colors and sketch. The picture was taken in Colorado last year while we were at Swirlydoos camp deep in the mountains of Baily. A scrappers dream!!! On our last day, we all put on the wonderful Tee's that Krissy designed for us, did the group hip check and bid a fond farewell to another wonderful getaway!!! The times we spend together are the best!! This is one hell of a group of ladies and I adore each and every one of them!! I am looking forward to CHA in a couple of months and cant wait to meet up with some of you!! Especially excited to see some of my Swirly Girls!!

The Donna salazar Boutanique papers in the kit are GORGEOUS!!!. Paired with KaiserCraft and Melissa Frances blooms, I didnt even have to create my own with this one.

We all are one and the same when it comes to our scrapping, so the title suits us perfectly. We all share the same obsession.

Here is a closeup of the blooms. The vine flourishes are a Cheery Lynne die. One of my faves.

I love the Teresa Collins metal photocorners!! So rich, they look like sterling!!

Just another small cluster of blooms.

I created a file for the yellow butterflies for the kit. There are other colors too. Just visit the forums at Swirlydoos.
And please visit the Swirlydoos Blog for the rules on SwirlyHues, and to see what the design team has created for this months challenge. The challenge is open to everyone, subcribers or non subscribers. We would love to see your interpretation of this months challenge. And if you area Donna Salazar lover, you are going to LOVE the May Kit!!!

Zva Creative ***featuring Swirlydoos Round Robin***

Zva Creative has crystals and pearls in colors that are just so beautiful!. There is a color to match just about any paper you use. On this LO I used lime colored crystals. They shimmer and shine in real life and just add that extra sparkle to your projects.
The photo is my dear  Swirly Sister Shelly. I am happy to also call her my friend. We met at Swirlydoos Camp a couple of years ago and like all the others who were withus, we formed a friendship that was truly special. I was cruising Shelly's facebook page and highjacked this photo of her. She is gorgeous!!
I used the papers from Swirlydoos Mon Doux kit and created some flowers to compliment the Zva flowers.

The large pink flower is a 2.5" Dual- Flowers - White & Dusky Pink -[FL-04CA-128] from Zva Creative.  It comes in a double pack with a white flower as well. The pink daisy like flowers I created with coffee filters and added a spiral rose in the middle topped with a  Basic Lines Pearl - White (0.8 cm) - [PEW-03CB-143.  I clustered them with the beautiful green leaves, 36pc leaves #I - 1" -[FL-04CA-112].

I took one package of the Harmony - Lime Crystal -[CRB-05CA-137] and split it in half to use on either side of my flower cluster.

This is the other piece that I cut apart. I think it was perfect. Harmony - Lime Crystal - [CRB-05CA-137]. The butterflies can be found HERE at Swirlydoos. I create a file to match the current kits and this one is from a file I created for the new May kit "So Chic". I finger paint them with Rock Candy Stickles to give them an special finish.

The little peach colored roses are  the Zva Creative  mini rose  -7/8" or 23mm -White [FLBK-03CB-122], in white. I opted to spray them with Glimmer Mist to match the layout and was not surprised at how well they received the color!! They held their shape and look so pretty!. Happy that I have lots of these beauties to mist!!

Here is just a closer look at the flowers.

Welcome to Swirlydoos' May Kit Reveal Blog Hop Block Party!!

If you came here from  Vicky's blog, then you are on the right track.  If not, go back to Swirlydoos' blog and start from there.  We have some amazing projects for you to see today and as a bonus we have 4 special guests joining in the fun and offering a prize!! There are 6 prize packs up for grabs so make sure to follow along and have fun!!  Also, since May is National Scrapbook month, we are saving some of our projects and will be revealing them all month long.  Make sure tocome back and check our Design Team's blogs to see their wonderful work!!

This layout was done as an inspiration to my daughter who was just about to start her Chef's externship for the last 12 weeks of school, when she got into a car accident. The other driver ran a red light, didn't merge into the merging lane and sent my daughters car spinning on impact. Thank God she had no broken bones, but she has been out of work and school for 1 month. Physical therapy 3 times a week is helping her get better. But she feels like her whole world ended when she thought she lost the dream job she was suppose to start a few days after her accident, she wont graduate with the graduating class, and we have had to find her a car and a new apartment...We keep telling her, things happen for a reason, and everything will be OK...She has a car now (gave her mine and I bought a new car....eeeeehhhhh!!!!!, the Executive Chef at The Rosen Plaza is holding her position till she gets better, and she got a new apartment.) Things are looking up again.
The flowers were created with Donna Salazars Grand Peony Creations die. I thought it was the perfect fit because these are her papers. I layered 2 different sizes crunched and inked them and added a pearl to the center. Easy easy...
The Prima flourish is just gorgeous. It has the colors of an aurora borealis..It shimmers like mad in real life. A file for the butterflies can be found in the forums at Swirlydoos. There are 3 different files to match this kit I used the blue ones and finger painted them with Rock Candy Stickles.
I printed up and cut out the tiny letters for the journaling. The America Crafts letter for OK, are the DIY Thickers. I dusted them with PearlEx powder.
