BoBunny Mini album featuring The Madeleine Collection

I am sharing a cute little mini that I created for BoBunny using their gorgeous Madeleine collection. I know that a lot of card makers love the 6x6 paper pads on the market today, but so do mini album makers!! I created this 6x6 mini album challenged to use just the 6x6 paper. I did use 1 sheet of 12x12 to created my cover, back, and binding, but the rest of the pages are  just from the 6x6 papers mounted on corrugated cardboard. The cover frame was die cut using a Sizzix die and the pearl pens were used to embellish it.

The BoBunny Blossoms in these neutral tones were perfect for these papers. I used some smaller pieces from the Noteworthy pack to tuck in and round the flowers.

 I used some seam binding to tie onto the spine of the mini. It was strung through an eyelet at the top.

Heartfelt Creations Alumni September Blog Hop 2014

Welcome to to the September 2014 Heartfelt Creations alumni Blog Hop. I have had the pleasure of being on the Design Team for 2 terms, and just as happy now to stay on as an alumni!! Heartfelt Creations stamps and dies are among my very favorite in my stamp collection. So with that said, if you have arrived to my blog from the very talented Alissa Wells Blog, then you're on the right track.

 To color the background and the flowers I used Lindy's Stamp Gang Caribbean Cruise Flat Fabio Magicals  Set.  I washed the background in Luscious Lime and Pineapple Passion. The colors were  a perfect match for my  Bo Bunny Country Garden Paper - Morning Sunrise. I did some light masking with embossing paste and The Crafters Workshop 6x6 Template - Mini Chickenwire Reversed.

 For my flowers I used the Classic Sunflower PreCut Set HCPC 3626. I love sunflowers. Heartfelt Creations does a gorgeous job on  their floral stamps. Those of you who know me know how I love my handmade flowers!! I painted my flowers with Flat Fabios in Pineapple Passion and added a bit of Flower Soft to the middles. I did use a touch of Martha Stewart Iridescent Glitter in Lemon Drop on the flowers, as it had  bit of  a green iridescence to it. 
My stamped background was done with the HCPC 3367  Vintage Life Background PreCut Set.  
 The frame was die cut from corrugated cardboard, primed with white gesso, , and painted  using the Flat Fabios and stamped using the same stamp as in the background.  I found the photo of the nest on Pinterest.

 Some times you can adapt your stamps to die that you my have in your stash. My Spellbinders Grand 12" On The Vine Border die had leaves that were almost  perfect a match for the HC 3405 Leaf Medley Precut Set which I believe is retired. So that just goes to show, that you should grab the stamps that you LOVE before they are gone...

There is  little trick that I use when stamping to get a different look to my stamp designs. I take the stamps and do an allover design on a letter sized sheet of white card stock, scan  it to my computer, upload to Photoshop, then use a photo editing program to change the look. In this case I used Topaz adjust Stylize action to achieve the results I wanted. It gave the lines on my stamped image a swirly look. I can use 1 stamp and achieve a few different results. Like have multiple designs in one!

Autumn***Lindys Stamp Gang***

Lindys September 2014 Color Challenge is here. The rustic colors in the Limited Edition Set are simply fabulous!! With autumn in the air here in Florida, (74 degrees this morning!!! lol)  I just had to create something earthy.

Here is a layout that is a little rustic with metallic overtones. I wanted a woodsy
fairytale like feeling, and the colors this month allowed me to achieve that image. I chose a  wood grained patterned  paper from FabScraps that compliment the colors well. I cut some vertical slits in the paper and placed  it upon  a piece of 12x12 corrugated cardboard that has been stripped away from its top layer. I marked the spots where the slits were and removed the patterned paper for the moment. I sprayed over those areas on the corrugated cardboard using Cowabunga Copper Starburst Spray and then adhered  the patterned paper over the cardboard. I pulled back the paper in those spots, adhered the paper then touched the edges with the same spray. I did some tear outs on the outside edges of the entire layout, and did some more spraying with Cowabunga Copper and Ocean Breeze Blue Flat Fabios Spray.

I chose flowers that were light peach, white  and beige in color. I used  Fuzzy Navel Peach Starburst Spray for an all over color on the flowers, then touched the edges with Cowabunga Copper while the flowers were still wet. The color  bled into the flowers and gave it a gorgeous fade. The white flowers I sprayed with Ocean Breeze Blue and Danny Zukos Denim Flat Fabios.

 I created the tiny birds nest using Spanish Moss and green moss. The eggs were shaped from Fimo Clay and baked according to directions. When cooled I painted them with white gesso,  then rolled them in  a small puddle of Ocean Breeze Blue a couple of times for good coverage.To finish them, I speckled them with a bit of black gesso watered down a bit.

For the die cut frame, I inked it with a dark color then heat embossed it with Desert  Moon Copper Teal Embossing powder. Then I went over it in spots with Silver Moon Mistletoe Embossing powder. The bottom layer of the frame was primed with white gesso and sprayed with Ocean Breeze Blue and toned down with  bit of Gag Me With  Spoon.   The die cut Sizzix leaves were also heat embossed with Cowabunga Copper then spayed  with Gag Me With  Spoon Gray.

The butterflies  are a file I have. I printed them on card stock, cut them out and enhanced them with the sprays. Then I covered them in Rock Candy Stickles. I only adhere the bodies of the butterflies to the paper and lift the wings a bit for dimension.

Vintage Butterfly Mini album by Lisa Gregory

 

In some parts of the country, fall is in the air. Not here in Florida where I live, but I feel it in my heart. It is my favorite season. I adore the colors of this months color challenge. Warm, cozy colors, just like Autumn. I decided to create a small vintage like mini album. I would like to fill it with pictures of butterflies and Autumn images to remind me that summer is fleeting, and fall is on the way. Here is your Lindys Color Challenge Palette. Gorgeous huh??

  The entire mini is created from corrugated cardboard I saved from a heavy duty box. Save a tree!!! The cover and back were reinforced with chip board I saved from a paper pack at work.

For my cover, I chose to spray the flowers with Lindys Starburst spray in Fuzzy Navel Peach. The leaves were sprayed with Flat Fabios Danny Zukos Denim. The metal frame was heat embossed using Cleopatra's Copper embossing powder included in this months Limited Edition Color Challenge Mega Set. It gave my black metal a wonderful coppery sheen. Looks just like aged copper metal!

I used 2 small metal clips, that I heat embossed to match my metal frame, and used a chain to attach the clips to. It is the perfect closure for mini's. 

 For the inside pages, I mounted paper onto the cardboard I used Prima's Cartographer that was designed by my great friend Frank Garcia!! The neutral papers compliment the colors in this months Color Challenge. I heat embossed spots with a mask and Lindys Cleopatra Copper Embossing powder. The die cut frames were also heat embossed with the same color powder. I inked the die cut  cardboard with a walnut stain color before embossing. I sprayed the front and back with the Cowabunga Copper and edged each piece of the pages by painting on the same color using  a small brush.Then I gave each page a quick spritz of Gag Me With a Spoon Gray Starburst  Spray. That really gave the pages a fine metal like sheen.

The spine of the mini was created using Grunge paper. I sprayed it with Cowabunga Copper Starburst Spray. The seam binding was also sprayed with the Cowbunga Copper and Flat Fabios Danny Zukos Denim. I tied them to a ring on the spine.

The back of the mini was finished with a heat embossed die cut as well. I seemed like the perfect ending to my mini.

I wish you could see the sparkle and sheen the sprays gave each of the materials I used on my mini. The cardboard, the seam binding, the grunge board, the metal, to the fabric flowers. It is simply amazing what the sprays and embossing powders do to dress up a plain ordinary object. It turns it into something extraordinary. Thanks for coming by for  peek. Everythings Coming Up Roses...By Lisa Gregory

I hope you have all had a peek from Blue Fern Studios new paper line, Montage. Well, it is beautiful and  a must have collection for your paper stash. For today's post, each project was done with each of Blue Fern Studios paper Collections. This first layout was done with Blue Fern Garden using the Timeless sheet. I opted to take the pink color  from the flowers in the paper, and use Lindys Stamp Gang sprays to color the paper. It was also inspired by this months beautiful Sketch. Here is my take on the sketch.

The piece of chipboard I used is from the  Blue Fern Studios Roman Clock Set - Large.  I used one of the smaller pieces and cut it out in a semicircle for the corner.

 I used one of the the larger circles from the Blue Fern Studios Roman Clock Set - Large.  to frame the photo. Both pieces of chipboard were textured with gesso, then sprayed with Lindys Starburst sprays in Sweet Violet Purple Teal and Bougainvillea Fuschia

  
I used the Blue Fern Studios Mixed Chains to dangle underneath the flower bud. I cut one to get 2 pieces.

The big rose was store bought in the floral section, the rolled roses were hand made from cardstock.

Here is the file for the butterflies I have used on my layout. I sprayed Lindy's alpine Ice Rose Starburst Spray on the butterflies just to give it a  kiss of color with the gold undertones. This is one of my favorite colors. Simply gorgeous!! For the butterflies, just right click and save the file. Print out, cover with Rock Candy Stickles, and adorn as you wish. I used the spray for gold sparkle.

This next layout was created using Montage. I layered  Bouquet and Mercantile over  piece of corrugated cardboard.

I heat embossed Lindys embossing powder on the Quatrefoil Panel. 

 I used the Collage Frame to frame the photo.I primed it with white gesso, then heat embossed it using Lindys Embossing powder.

I added lots of texture with modeling paste and gesso.

The tag was created using Ombre Dreams Juliannas Dream. I did some spraying and masking on the tag before adding my embellishments.

I cut the smallest piece from the Roman Clock Set. I used the pieces in opposite corners.

I created  the quote in Photoshop, printed it out, then cut it up for the tag.I topped the tag with Seam binding that I colored with Lindys spray.

You Got Framed by Lisa Gregory

I have a little mixed media layout for you using 3 of the August Color Challenge colors. I omitted the Hydrangea Blue in this project.  I started with a 12x12 sheet of patterned paper that I adhered to  piece of 12x12 corrugated cardboard. (save those heavy duty boxes!!) I adhered some doilies in 2 different sizes and layered them. I spread some gesso randomly over the background using a palette knife, then sprayed it using Wild Honeysuckle Coral. Once it was dry, I did some stamping over the whole area. I wet the edges of the paper of layout and peeled it back from the base to expose the ridge part of the corrugated cardboard. I ripped and curled back the paper. Once it dried, I sprayed the exposed parts with  Wild Honeysuckle Coral.

 I took some creamy peachy colored flowers I purchased at Hobby Lobby, stripped them off of the stems, and spayed some Wild Honeysuckle Coral just in the middle. The color slowly spread through the flowers and created   faded look which came out fabulous. I created a tutorial of the smaller flowers for the  Lindys Stamp Gang News Letter. Sweet Violet Purple Teal for them.

The die cut frames are  composed of 2 different Sizzix Dies. I primed them with Gesso. The 3 base frames were colored with  Whale Watch Blue. The top frame in the middle was colored with
Sweet Violet Purple Teal.

Instead of pop dots, I used bits of corrugated cardboard in between my layers. They are the perfect width. The stamped and fussy cut leaves were sprayed with Maidenhair Fern Green, then using  a paintbrush, I highlighted them with Wild Honeysuckle Coral.

The dragonfly was stamped onto white card stock. I stamped an extra set of wings to layer the dragonfly to give it dimension, then colored it with a paintbrush using Maidenhair Fern Green, Wild Honeysuckle Coral, and Sweet Violet Purple Teal.
