Heartfelt Creations Wednesday featuring Swirlydoos...

My Glitz Challenge Layout.
Happy Heartfelt Creations week!! We are one week away from the new reveal of beautiful stamps and dies!!. So don't forget to tune in on May 10th. Head on over to the Heartfelt Creations blog to see this weeks DT Creations as well as a sneak of the new stamps.
This week I used the Swirlydoos May kit to showcase Heartfelt Creations stamps. The Swirlydoos May kit will reveal tomorrow May 5th. Consider this a sneak peek!!

The bird cage is Dusty Attic that was in the main kit. It was altered with Smooch paint and strung with the May Arts ribbon also in the kit.
The flowers were created with the Flora Grande stamps and die cut with the coordinating Spellbinders Blossoms 3 die, I could have used a darker ink for the stamping, but in real life, the subtle color looks wonderful. Below, you will find the instructions for creating this LO. And don't forget Swirlydoos reveal day is tomorrow!!

Other: Martha Stewart punches, Glimmer Mist, Sizzix die, McGill sun punch ,sewing machine, Thickers letters, Zig Micro pen, black ink

I used the MS Wild Flowers punch around the page set, punched around a 12 x 12 piece of blue cardstock. Cut a 9 x 9 piece of patterned paper, centered and sewed it to the punched card stock. Punched a circle using MS corner punch to create decorative circle and offset it slightly to right. Matted the photo and adhered over circle. Created the large flowers by stamping the Lily petals on white cardstock, die cutting them out and spraying with glimmer mist. Wrinkle petals slightly, dry, and assemble in layers staggering petals, large on bottom 2 layers and smaller petals on top. Shape flowers after they are dry. The middles were created using the sun punch and you can find the photo tutorial of the assembly on my blog HERE. The leaves were also stamped, diecut and colored with Glimmer Mist. Bend and shape for dimension. Assemble your leaf and flower cluster to your liking. The small posy patch flowers were used as fillers. The Spellbinders scallop dies were diecut using leftover card stock in 2 different sizes, layered, inked and the number 2 was adhered to middle. The name and all around journaling was done with a brown Zig Pen. The small die cut flourishes were also used as a filler. The butterflies are files I created and printed up, cut out and inked. Files for all of my butterflies can be found HERE over at the wonderful SWIRLYDOOS!! Feel free to use them for your projects.

Swirlydoos Round Robin Challenge

Round Robin Challenge at Swirlydoos is headed to week 4!! Here is my lift for week 3. I had to follow the awesome Manda and Erin...Not easy to lift and twist....lol... I do love that every week is a new challenge, and with all the controversy on lifting in the scrapbook world going on right now, this a place where lifting is a MUST...And you dont feel guilty. You can lift directly down to the paper and title, or you could put your own twist on it and make it yours. We all tend to put our own style into it and that makes if fun. So here is my lift from our group "Leaders Of The Pack" and if you live in Swirlyville you know what that is in reference to...MANDA!!...And my own twist on a wonderful following.

The DA gate was cut in half (the other half used on another LO). If you were lucky to get the April Technique kit at Swirlydoos this month, you know how much fun it was to alter chip board. On the gate I used the Gloss Glue as the base, then brushed some Pearlex Powder on it, then covered it with Crackle Accents. I touched a few places with Liquid Pearls. I also covered the butterflies with a light coat of the Crackle Accents, as well as the flowers.
You can find the tutorial for the Purple Passion Flowers here on my blog. Make them any color you want. I used Glimmer Mist in the new color Puerto Rico...(My ancestral homeland!!). Reminds me of the color of the water and sky..sooooo blue!!.
I learned a new technique using a new product!! Lindy's Stamp Gang Magical Mica!! And our very own DT member Camilla Ekman did a wonderful tutorial on using the tech kit and altering Dusty Attic Chip board. The magical Mica is MAGICAL!! It leaves these serious bits of black mica behind that gives the finish a stone look. And Camilla's Tutorial on The Mica Chipboard Hinge is awesome!! Thanks for the tip Camilla!! Krissy does Secial orders for Swirlydoos Subscribers, and she just closed out an order for Lindy's Stamp Gang Products...My word, cant wait to get mine. I think I need more Magical Mica!!.
Just another close up of the gate, flowers and butterfly!!
Head over to Swirlydoos for a world of inspiration and tutorials..And just around the corner is National Scrapbook day!! Swirlydoos has a day full of planned activities with prizes!! The Lovely Lisa Valentine (our schedule Coordinator Extrordinaire) is putting together the scheduled activities!! Details coming soon!!!! The day will include picture and Ustream Live classes, games, crops and much more!! It is gonna be a blast!!!

INSTRUCTIONS:

Sprayed 2 different colors of Glimmer Mist on to the Invisibles paper. Randomly stamped the Vintage Life stamp on paper in opposite corners. Cut a circle of cardstock and using a MS corner punch, punched around the edge of the circle, then cut out part of the middle to form a ring. Adhered slightly offset to the middle of the page. Punched a strip using the MS Garden Gate punch. With a double slot punch, punched the strip then wovedyed seam bindingthrough the strip. Using a tiny scallop border punch, punched strips then adhered the strips to the back of the photo along the edges. Attach the ribbon strip piece to the matted photo and then center onto the circle. Die cut the daisy patch flowers using cream card stock and spray with Glimmer Mist (the color I used is Puerto Rico). After they dry, stamp with Daisy patch stamps using black ink. Stack each flower using 2 cuts and stagger petals. Curl edges under slightly. For each middle, I used 5 star punch pieces. You can see the assembly of the middles for the flowers on my blog HERE. Stamped, cut and colored the leaves, then touched them up a bit with brown ink. Arranged the leaves and flowers on the page. Die cut the Spellbinders labels in 3 sizes. Stamped the sentiment onto the smaller one, then using pop dots, layered the labels, then adhered to page. Punched a decorative strip for the top right corner and placed a flower and leaves on it. Printed up some butterflies, and placed them randomly around page. Did some journaling around the photo using a Zig pen in black.

Purple Passion Flower Tutorial

PRODUCT LIST
Card Stock in cream or white
Glimmer Mist or your favorite Color spray
Chalk ink (not shown in picture)
Adhesive (glue) Tim Holtz Tattered floral Die
McGill Sun Punch
Craft Dryer
Nonstick craft mat

Step 1.
Die cut 2 of the spindley flowers from the Tattered Florals die for each flower you make.

Step 2.
Working on a non stick craft mat, spray both sides of your flowers with your favorite color mist. I used Glimmer Mist for this tutorial.

Step 3.
Move the flowers around in the Glimmer Mist very gently as these die cuts are delicate when wet. Make sure the color is saturated throughout the card stock.

Step 4.
Using a craft dryer, dry them until they are 90% dry. Leave ever so damp, just enough to wrinkle the petals up a bit by pinching the individual petals until they are distressed. Then hit with the craft dryer one more time to completely dry. Or air dry.

Step 5.
Using your choice of craft adhesive, stack one flower onto the other staggering the petals.

Step 6.
Punch out 5 sun shapes. I used a patterned paper. You could use card stock and mist it whatever color you want.

Step 7.
Using the thin handle of a paint brush, cup 4 of the sun shapes around the end of the brush handle and form tight cup shapes. Leave one sun shape flat.

Step 8.
Stack the cupped shaped suns one into another to form a cluster. then place the cluster onto the flat piece.

Your finished flowers..They reminded me of the passion flowers in my mothers garden. The color is brilliant. For these flowers I used Glimmer Mist in Trunk Bay and Puerto Rico. I touched them up with Colorbox Chalk Ink in Wisteria.
