Tres Jolie Guest Designer January 2023

Hello. Its me, Lisa, back with another layout done with the beautiful January kit featuring 3 Quarter Designs paper collection, Christmas Wonderland. I wanted to show how sometimes, your holiday themed papers can be taken in a different direction, other than holiday.  Although you can still see remnants of snowflakes on the designer paper, nothing else reminds me of a holiday theme. I cut a strip of paper from one design, ran it through an embossing folder, and adhered it to my main background paper. I covered the paper with clear gesso so my spatters wouldn't bleed through the paper. I wanted the wood grain design on the paper show for the most part. Wood grain designs are among my favorite paper designs.

For the photo frame, I die cut the frame using a lighter part of one of the papers. There is a faint design on the frame, but I like that it is mostly the lighter color. I cut the some corrugated cardboard using the same die. I adhered the die cut design paper on top of the cardboard cut out. This gave me a sturdy frame. I popped the frame up off of the page using some scrap corrugated cardboard underneath. I used the throwaway cut out oval from the middle of the frame, to use as a guide to cut out my photo. The chipboard on either side of the frame is also from Tres Jolie. It is the Corner Scroll Set. I painted it with white gesso, then heat embossed some white embossing powder over it.

I mixed the 3 brands of flowers in the floral clusters. Little Birdie, Prima, and my favorite, 49 and Market. I took apart the Little Birdie flowers, as well as cutting apart the leaf cluster in the 49 and Market flower pack. This gave me more control over how I wanted to build my floral clusters.  For the title, I used one of the tear away parts of the paper. But I changed the words around. And one of the words was "search". I cut each letter apart, omitted the s, and created the word Reach. It worked for me on this layout. I used thinned out white gesso, and some distress stain, for the spatters on the layout.

To add texture and depth, I dry brushed the flowers and leaves using a thick white gesso, without being watered down. I also used a leaf die cut using the rest of the paper that I cut apart. die cutting a few clusters, then cutting the clusters apart. I tucked in these leaves all around the floral clusters. I think it lightened the design on the paper. I do love leaves and flowers. I probably use them all of the time on my projects. Tres Jolie kits always have the most beautiful flowers!

I want to thank Kim for inviting me to Guest Design at Tres Jolie. I had fun  creating my projects with the January Kit. Thank you to the design team for making room for me this month! It was a pleasure working alongside all of you! I made some new friends, and connected with some old friends. I hope you are inspired to create some beautiful things with your kits. Tres Jolie January Guest Designer/Folio

I am back again with my next project as January Guest Designer. Using the beautiful January kit with papers from 3 Quarter Designs, I created this 8.5x5 inch Waterfall Folio. I used the folio design created by Ginger Ropp (My sisters Scrapper). Ginger lost her life to Covid, but her beautiful designs live on. This design is one of my faves. I think scrapbook kits are perfect for these kinds of projects, because all you need is paper and some embellishments. The only thing I added from my stash was the chipboard to create the base of the folio, a little lace for the spine, and 2 sheets of solid cardstock for the base of the waterfall feature and the tags. So even though the kits come with plenty to do a few projects with, it is always good to add a bit from your own stash, to make it your own!! You don't need much.

This is the cover of the folio. I used 1 sheet of paper from the kit to cover my folio. Once the cover and inside was done, I used 1 strip of lace to cover the spine. This gives it some stability, just in case the paper on the spine cracks. It also adds some beauty. I used the Prima flowers and cut outs from the paper collection to adorn the cover. Just layer your elements until you are happy with the design. I fool around a bit until I get the look I like. Once I like it, it gets nailed down!! Well, a little glue is all you need!

For the back cover, I used one of the tear away strips from the paper, as it had a sentiment written across. I cut the paper sentiment apart, and I also used a cutout snowflake that I cut in half. I laid the sentiment on the back cover and tucked one half of the snowflake on the top, and one on the bottom of the last strip. I then adhered them using glue.

This is what the Folio looks like open from the back. The design lets you open the Folio all of the way so that it could lay flat on a surface.

This is the inside of the folio. On the right side is the waterfall feature. There are 7 flaps. You could adhere a photo to each of the front and back flaps. That gives you plenty of room for lots of photos. I used a decorative corner punch on each of the flaps. I used a piece of navy blue cardstock from my own stash to create the base of the waterfall feature, then used paper from the kit to cover it. I used the half strips that came in the kit. They are perfect for piecing. On the left side of the folio is a corner flap that holds the tags I created. I cut the base of the tags from the navy blue cardstock from my own stash, and decorated the fronts of the tags with paper from the kit. On the [pocket, I adhered a cut out tree, and on the bottom, adhered a sentiment strip. As you can see the base of the inside of the folio, is the bonus  paper design that came in the back of the cover photo for the kit. I thought it was perfect for a lining.

Here is a closeup of the tags. I did 4 tags in 2 different sizes. Each of the tags have a pocket that you could tuck photos into. You could also use the back for  journaling.

Here is a close up of the floral cluster on the front cover. I had a lot of fun creating this folio. I plan on gifting it to someone filled with a bunch of their Christmas Memories. Folios make awesome gifts. And when it is made from the heart, it is even sweeter!!

I hope you are inspired to create a folio of your own.

49 and Market 12x12 layout featuring Curators Botanical

Welcome to January and a whole new year of designs at 49 and Market. Today, I am here to inspire you with the gorgeous elements of Curators Botanical. This collection has all of the elements of a woodsy walk in the woods! Nature at its best. I chose to go a little monochromatic with a touch of accent color that just brings the whole layout together. I absolutely love this collection. Maybe because green is one of my fave colors. I started by placing a washi postage stamp on each corner of the paper and machine sewing around a few times using a straight and zigzag stitch. I trimmed down the cover paper down to 11x11 to give a 1 inch border all around. I distressed the edges of the paper and adhered it over the green background paper. I painted the paper with clear gesso to prep it for color. I layered the framed photo using pieces from the Ephemera Bits pack. Before I layered the framed photo, I placed the laser cut heart on the corner, then tied some single ply jute around a couple of times and tied a small bow in the corner. I tucked a tiny laser cut mushroom on top. I replaced the strings in the 3 tags with the single ply jute, and arranged them under the matted photo. I lifted each layer up with a piece of corrugated cardboard inbetween. This gives some dimension and a great base to arrange the floral clusters. Leaves don't  usually fall off of the trees in Florida, but the gorgeous oak trees where my granddaughter lives, had most of its leaves fall off onto the path she takes to the peaceful pond. It is beautiful!

My floral clusters were done with 3 different flower packs. Royal Spray/ Olive paper flowers,
Sugar Posies/Butterscotch and Florets Paper Flowers/Celery The colors match beautifully. I just play with the arrangement until I am happy. 49 and Market flowers are simply beautiful. Grab them while you can, because once they are gone, they are gone for good and hard to find.

I created a smaller cluster on the right side of the layout, to fill the "white space". O placed the laser cut card holder in-between my right and left designs for my title. Under this cluster. I added a half of one of the floral rub ons. I used the other half opposite to it. This created the "connection" for the bookplate.

To finish the layout, I did some spattering of white acrylic paint and brown ink. I used the small words in the 6x8 rub-on set, cut them apart, and scattered them around the layout. The words are perfect to reflect the theme of the layout.

I hope you are inspired to create memories from the heart. Capture those truly beautiful moments. 49 and Market Collections can help you do that! xo

January Tres Jolie Guest Designer

Hello!! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! Some of the holiday spirit still lingers for me as I create my projects with the beautiful January kit from Tres Jolie. It is full of wintery goodness, with the beautiful papers from Three Quarter Designs Christmas Collection. It is a designer paper and chipboard set that is included in the January kit. Along with beautiful flowers from 49 and Market (my personal fave!) Prima Marketing and Little Birdie designs. There are lots of goodies in this kit to make your holiday or winter projects. Today I am revealing a 12x12 layout as my first project for the month.

I created a floral cluster under the photos using 49 and Market Majestic Bouquet Flowers/ Midnight and  and Little Birdie Flowers/Gianna Shabby Chic included in the kit. I cut apart the Little Birdie flowers and used them separate, and I took apart the leaf vines in the 49 and Market flowers and tucked them all around. I love flower rearranging!! I kissed the flowers and leaves doing a little dry brushing with white gesso. I also sprinkled a little glitter over them to make them twinkle.

The little stars on the patterned paper inspired me to create 3 dimensional stars of my own. I used scraps of paper left over from my die cut frames, and die cut the little stars in 2 colors, one from the dark paper, the other from a lighter paper, added some clear glitter for sparkle. I placed a small pop dot in back of each one and adhered them randomly on the layout. I used  Crystal Clear glitter from my stash. I love that it still lets the color from the paper you use shine through.

For the stars on the bottom, I attached some jute from my stash to make them appear dangling from the floral cluster. And I placed pop dots under them as well. I adhered them to the paper so they stayed straight.

For my frames, I used the half papers that are in the kit, I die cut the frames using 2 different dies I had and layered them together. I also die cut the frames using corrugated cardboard. I backed each die cut with the die cut cardboard to give them a bit of dimension. I created 2 frames. The Merry Christmas is a piece of chipboard that came in the kit. I covered it with white gesso, then sprinkled some crystal glitter over the top while it was still wet.

Thank you for joining me on my first Tres Jolie Guest Designer project. I have 2 more coming this month so stay tuned. In the meantime...
