Dusty Attic May 2017

Dusty Attic simply amazes me with all of their new deigns. Whether it be chipboard, or stencils, there is something for every creative design and mood you may have. With this layout, I wanted something delicate to counter balance the smoky gray paper. I used the Rose stencil and Dusty Attic Texture paste in the background to lighten it up.

Combining 2 or more pieces of chipboard with Dusty Attic designs to create the flow of 1 design is endless. Here I combined the frame and the Mystic Flourish to compliment my 1 dollar Resin Frame. Looks like a million bucks right?? A few strategically placed flowers brings it all together, The Doily #10 chipboard coupled with the Mystic Flourish go together perfectly.

I absolutely adore the title phrases. They take the work out of  journaling. One phrase can say it all. I just covered it with gesso and dabbed it with some Dusty in Colour in Cashmere.

The Rose stencils are awesome!! I am such a stencil junkie, and Dusty Attic has quite the collection, and always adding more designs. I used Dusty Attics texture paste, and after it was dry, dabbed on some Cashmere, then sprayed on a small amount of yellow mist to blend into the background paper.

Dusty Attic Mini Album in a Jar... April Challenge.

As April closes out, and May comes in, I will give you a couple of sneaks of brand new Dusty Attic designs. When my Design Team package arrives from Australia, I know that the newest designs will leave me yearning to dig in and create create create. That is just what I did. I had been saving a cool little jar that my artichokes came in. It is wide leaving plenty of room for lots of Dusty Attic Chipboard. This post is a little photo heavy, but I wanted you to see every detail, and every texture that Dusty Attic designs inspire me to create. The surprise element is the little mini album I created to slide into the jar.

As the photographer in the family, I am also the memory keeper. I love to create mini albums and fill them with lots of memories. Trying to find unique ideas to hold my minis is always a challenge.

Here are my 2 projects side by side. For the cover of my jar, I used a new quotation Leave footprints take only memories" It is one of Dusty Attics new designs which will debut this week, so stay tuned to see many more gorgeous designs.

I used the Cherry Blossoms chipboard to adorn the jar. I wanted a mirror image to wrap around the jar, so I soaked the chipboard, pulled it apart and created 2 pieces. The chipboard was painted with Memory Hardware Artisan Powder diluted in water in La Chapeliere. To cover the jar I used a technique I learned from my very talented friend Miranda Edney. Check out her Boroque Bottles...sigh..she is so dang talented!!

This is a view of the spine of the mini. I wrapped some seam binding around it and created a dangle using chain and Dusty Attic chipboard. I used a word tag, a mini birdcage, and a key from one of Dusty Attics new design sets.

The mini was created to slip inside the jar.

The cover was created by using one of Dusty Attics new stencil designs. There is a vast majority of stencil designs to choose from. Wait until you see the newest designs. I just can't choose a favorite. They are all so wonderfully beautiful!.

The texture created by using the stencil and texture paste brings the mini to life. It is so dimensional you just want to touch it. While the texture paste was still wet, I sprayed it with Lindys Stamp Gang Moonshadow Mist

Each of the page sections has a caption from 3 different word packs. They are all listed below.

I have been wanted to use the Prima Memory Hardware Dome. This one fit perfectly onto the cover of the jar. There happened a happy little mistake. I used Super Glue to adhere the dome to the lid, and as it dried, it frosted the plastic. I am no chemist, but obviously there was some kind of chemical reaction. I like it!! The lid was adorned with flowers, pieces of the Cherry Blossom chipboard painted with green metallic paint, and some dragonflies and a butterfly from my stash.

There are 4 inside pages that have enough room for journaling and photos.

I used the Artisan powder to paint the chipboard, then sprayed some Lindys Stamp Gang Moonshadow Mist in Treasure Island Aqua over it. It left a patina look to the chipboard. I added the Dusty Attic Pearls for some elegance.

I added a Door Handle Plate chipboard on the edge of the mini.

Here is a closeup of the side of the jar. The combo of blue green and brown reminds me of the earth and sky. This was inspired by the April Mood Board Challenge. Lots of natural earthy browns.

The Dusty Attic chipboard pieces I used for the dangles were all painted with Artisan Powder and sprayed with the Treasure Island Aqua MoonShadow Mist. I used jump rings and chains to hang them from the seam binding.

Here is a closeup of the inside of the dome. The frosting effect is that happy little mistake from using super glue.

The back of the mini was adorned with a Vintage Key. The entire album was then sprayed with some of the Treasure Island Aqua MoonShadow Mist to give it an all over shimmer.

Dusty Attic...ATC size Gatefold Mini Album of Love...

February...The month of Love... Hello Dusty Attic Lovers! Today, I bring to you an ATC sized  Gatefold Mini Album. This mini was a fun one to put together. I followed a tutorial from Alexandra M.  Of course incorporating Dusty Attic Chipboard made it the more sweeter!! It always does. Dusty Attic has chipboard in lots of sizes, from mini to 12x12 page size. These is a size to suit your every project. For my mini, I used a lot of the mini sizes. They were perfect for this ATC sized cover and pages. This mini has pages, pockets and tags. It is a chunky mini, so you can place dimensional pices on each page and it will still close.

Each tab was intentionally left bare, because I found the perfect Dusty Attic chipboard to place on each tab. Just waiting on my next order to arrive. I think the Mini Heart Buttons would be perfect on each tab. Tied with a bit of pink bakers twine!!

This a view of the back of the mini. I used Prima new collection from Frank Garcia, Love Clippings. It is full of Love related papers. Perfect for this mini. And the Dusty Attic Mini Heart Borders were also perfect as well.

The belly band that holds the album together is a great idea. Of course it is the star of the mini album. I tucked the Dusty Attic Leaves #2 into the floral cluster. All of the chipboard was heat embossed using Lindys Stamp Gang Midnight Bronze Obsidian embossing powder.

Here is a view of the mini after removing the belly band,

Each of the pages fold beautifully one over the other before closing the album. There are 6 pages in all. 3 on each side. You can add more pages to your liking, or even place less. It is up to you.

When you open the album, the pages look like this. I heat embossed the "adore" chipboard with Lindys Stamp Gang embossing powder in Midnight Bronze Obsidian.

Then you flip down each page to reveal 2 places for photos or journaling. I placed another piece of chipboard for a title.

When you turn the page, the backside contains a pocket page and there is a tag in each pocket. There are 6 pages and 6 tags in all.

The backs of the tags were left blank for journaling or placing photos.
