Love Little Moments...The Dusty Attic

Welcome Dusty Attic Lovers!! I am here with a new layout using the gorgeous Dusty Attic chipboard. I found a gorgeous piece of KaiserCraft paper imprinted with a frame, which was the color inspiration to this layout. I loved the antique looking old frame gilded design on the paper. I wanted my chipboard to match that old gilded feeling. I also wanted an old world feeling, so I added distressed layers using the Dusty Attic corrugated cardboard tucked under here and there. I wet it, distressed it a bit, then added color with sprays.

To get the look of gilded paint on the chip board was very easy. I sprayed Lindy's Stamp Gang  Mission Bells Brown Starburst spray onto a non stick craft mat. The chipboard was then swirled into the spray until it all soaked up. This left parts of fine gold mica powder blended into the color brown of the spray without leaving defined spots. Perfectly blended and oh so easy. To seal it, I added a very light coat of Dusty in Colour Clear Gloss Varnish.

I did the same to the title. I used words from 2 different sets. The word LOVE came from Word Pack #19. The Little Moments caption came from Mini Captions #6.

I love the Leaves #2. They are so light and airy looking.  I placed a few of them on my non stick craft mat and sprayed them with water until they were soaked through. I waited a few minutes then I peeled them in half turning 1 leaf into 2. This made them easier to bend and shape after they were sprayed with Lindys Stamp Gang Rusty Lantern Lime Starburst spray. I then tucked them into the flower clusters. The Brown flowers were colored with Mission Bells Brown and the Coral Flowers were sprayed with Lindys Wild Honeysuckle Coral Starburst Spray.

I post processed the photo in PhotoShop CS6 to give it an antique light sepia color to blend in with the rest of the layout. I brushed on  some Dusty in Colour Clear Crackle Varnish on the photo, since it is shiny, there is a glare. This coated the photo and came out beautifully. Be careful when doing this and make sure your photo can handle mediums. Some ink jet printer photos may smear when mediums are added. I coat mine with Epson Ecoprint Shield in a matte finish. This creates a non porous surface to work with.

This view just shows the layers and dimension created on this layout. I sprayed some cheese cloth with a combo of both Mission Bells Brown and Wild Honeysuckle Coral, then tucked it underneath the top layer. You can see how light and airy the leaves look.

Lindy's Stamp Gang featuring Neon Grafitti

Hello Lindy's Lovers!! Blazing Black, Sidewalk Chalk, Poppin' Pink, Luminous Lemon, and Urban Amethyst... These are the colors to the brand spankin new Neon Graffiti Sprays . And there are matching embossing powders and Magicals too...Oh my...If you don't think you can work with bright colors, you have just got to try these out!!! They are beautiful!!
I adhered 2 layers of paper onto a 12x12 piece of corrugated cardboard using Mod Podge. Once it dried, I peeled back the papers to reveal the cardboard. The cardboard was then sprayed with
Poppin' Pink and  Urban Amethyst Flat Fabio sprays. The edges of the papers were torn in places and distressed.

Obviously Black Embossing powder was used to heat emboss the color onto the Sizzix die cut frames. The coverage is unbelievably wonderful! A true deep black at its darkest with a bit of sheen. The background paper was primed with clear gesso and all of the colors in the spray set were used to spatter, drip and spray.

The silk flowers, (purchased at Hobby Lobby and pulled off the stems) started off as a pale lavender color. I used the yellow on the outside, the purple in the very middle and a touch of pink on some of  the edges of the petals. the variegated look turned out beautiful. The yellow on the lavender gave  it a chartreuse kind of color. The Dusty Attic Foliage chipboard leaves were heat embossed using the Luminous Lemon embossing powder.

This is just a closeup of the flowers. The colors in this set are simply amazing. I love how the colors just soak in and bleed to create a faded effect on the silk flowers.

I used the stem of Blazing Black Flat Fabio  spray to out line the file and tags to give them definition. I used the Luminous Lemon Flat Fabio spray  to touch some of the edges of the background paper.

Luminous Yellow embossing powder was used to heat emboss the title Strong. Underneath is a die cut paper that resembles a torn notebook and that was painted using Blazing Black Magicals.

Star Wars Week and Princess Charlotte..Loving tribute to 2 of the best photographers that influenced my creative style.

Someone told me it was Star Wars Week last week!!! I couldn't wait to do a photo shoot of Charlotte and set out to find the  perfect setting and backdrop to use. Cruising Pinterest to spark my creativity, I ran across a photographer by the name of Jamie Anderson of JME Portraits.  Sadly Jamie passed away suddenly and tragically back in June of this year. I am also  remembering my Uncle Louie, who sparked my interest in photography sooooo many years ago when I was a child.  He remained my mentor and loving critic until the day he passed away suddenly 4 years ago. How I will always miss those unexpected phone calls when he NEEDED to tell me something about the latest and greatest in the Nikon world. ( I am a Nikonian because of him!! And I still receive the Rangefinder after all these years!) (May they rest in eternal peace)...So using Jamies style and creative  ideas, and channeling my dear uncles wisdom about hand placement, I set out to do my own version of Princess Leia...
Charlotte...
May the Force, always be with you...
Love,
your Mimi

Lindys Stamp Gang September 2015 Color chllange

Welcome to another glorious colorful month at Lindys Stamp Gang Color Challenge!! As always, the colors are coordinated perfectly. You can use a few, you can use them all!! In this layout I only chose to eliminate the blue in the palette. (I will use it in my next project!!) I wanted a watercolor effect and hush some of the brightness on my background. To do that I used clear gesso on the background paper. When it dried, I sprayed it with water. while it was still wet, I sprayed my colors and tilted and blotter the paper until I got it until I was satisfied with the colors and coverage. I did this so that the colors in all of my handmade flowers and butterflies popped. I used the September 2015 Color Challenge MEGA Set.

I used watercolor paper to die cut the leaves and roses and the hand cut spiral flowers. I sprayed them very slightly with water, then with the sprays and let the colors bleed. Marigold Yellow Orange Starburst Spray  and Rudolph's Nose Red Starburst Spray. On my craft mat, I sprayed a little of both colors to blend them and get a variation of different colors, Very subtle, but effective.

For the frame I layered a Sizzix frame die cut with Dusty Attic Chipboard to cluster my frame.I used Flourish #8 and Foliage #2 . I used gesso to prime the pieces, then used Spring leaf Chartreuse Embossing powder and heat set it.I used Byzantine Bronze embossing powder (not in the Mega Set) on the stems of the leaf vines.

The Dusty Attic title Remember Today from the Mini Captions #2 set was also primed with gesso and then heat embossed with Candy Cane Red Embossing Powder.

This is just another closeup of the flowers and leaves. I popped some half pearls in the middles.

The butterflies were diecut and colored the same way that the flowers and leaves were colored with the exception that I did want full coverage so I just spritzed them with color and left some of the white paper show through.

I used Prima wire thread for the body of the butterflies and just glued some string pearls over them. Very simple.

So there you have it!! The Color Challenge!! Don't forget to head on over to Lindys Blog and see what the rest of the team has created using the September colors to wet your  inspirational appetite!!!!And join  us for a chance to win 1 of 5 gift certificates to the Lindys store.
