Dusty Attic Mood Board Inspiration

Hello Dusty Attic Lovers. Here with some inspiration created from our April Mood Board. These happen to be some of my favorite colors. Blue and lavender..oh my...Just a touch of a neutral color helped to set it all off.
For the background I adhered some white card stock onto a piece of 12x12 corrugated cardboard using Mod Podge. When it dried, I primed it with gesso. This is the same as priming a canvas. Your background is ready for any kind of medium. I tore up some pieces of Tim Holtz tissue paper and adhered it to the background over the gesso while it was still wet, then I dry brushed some more gesso over the tissue pieces very lightly as not to cover the design. Using Dusty in Color Oceania and Capri, I watered it down a bit with water, then used it on the background like watercolor. It created a fabulous base for my layout.

To create my frames, I primed a piece of the String Frame with Dusty In Colour Navajo White, then added a coat of Dusty In Colour Clear Crackle Varnish. For the foliage over the String Frame, I used a white crackle paint on it, then gave it a spritz with a color spray.

Here is the small frame from the String set and it was treated the same way as the larger frame. The flowers are from my stash and were sprayed with color to match the mood board. The purple vines are a die cut I sprayed to match the rest of the layout.

Here is a closeup of the Federation Frame. There are 4 other pieces in this set that I have put aside for another project. I love how intricate the design is. It holds up beautifully!!

I really enjoyed working on this layout. Dusty Attic chip board and the Moodboard always get my mojo going!! I hope that you will join us this month for the challenge. We would love to see your interpretation.

Lindys Stamp Gang April 2016 Color Challenge/layout by Lisa Gregory

Hello there Lindy's Lovers! The April Color Challenge is in full swing and I have a layout I did using 4 of the colors from the Mega Set. I adhered a piece of 12x12 patterned paper to a 12x12 piece of corrugated cardboard and painted a light white wash of gesso over the entire surface. For texture, I used a mask and texture paste on random areas and let it dry. Then I spritzed on some water and while it was still wet, sprayed Cheshire Cat Cherry (starburst), Mango Mania (Flat Fabio), Frenchy's Pink Pouf (Flat Fabio) and Cotton Candy Pink (starburst) in random areas. Then  the layering began...

I found some pretty white flowers in my stash that I ordered online some time ago. They are just basic silk flowers used for fillers in bouquets. I cut off the stems and sprayed them with Cheshire Cat Cherry (starburst), Mango Mania (Flat Fabio), Frenchy's Pink Pouf (Flat Fabio) and Cotton Candy Pink (starburst). I love the way the Mango Mania pooled to the edges. The dragonflies were found online and matched the colors perfectly. I printed them up on photo paper and added a bit of Cheshire Cat Cherry (starburst).

Here is a closeup of the flowers. The leaves were die cut from watercolor paper and sprayed with Merry Go Round Green (Flat Fabio) and a small amount of Mango mania (Flat Fabio) was brushed on to highlight. The smaller flowers were also die cut from watercolor paper and sprayed with with Mango mania (Flat Fabio), Frenchy's Pink Pouf (Flat Fabio) and Cotton Candy Pink (starburst) to match the larger flowers.

The frame is a die ut and was primed with a white crackle paint. Once the crackle set, it was sprayed with Merry Go Round Green (Flat Fabio) and the color settled into the cracks beautifully.

The title "angel" was primed with crackle paint and once the crackle appeared it was sprayed with Cheshire Cat Cherry (starburst) which also settled into the cracks. I also die cut the distressed lattice and sprayed it with Merry Go Round Green (Flat Fabio) before adhering it to the background.

I uploaded a butterfly from my files, enlarged it, printed it up, and colored it with Mango mania (Flat Fabio), Frenchy's Pink Pouf (Flat Fabio) and Cotton Candy Pink (starburst). I placed it behind the frame.
